hello guys,im new to this forum and im new to tanks also.i was wondering how would two tanks, one medium the other heavy, stand in combat between each other.heavy tanks have stronger armor and bigger guns but medium tanks are more maneuverable.example,t-34 vs tiger.
does heavy tanks automatically means that its better than medium or light tank. t(h)anks

    Oh no!
You've started a new " my tank is better than your tank" debate.
Simple answer - heavy tank wins.
Real answer - it depends on the tactical situation, crew training, morale state (there's one we haven't touched on yet!), cover, weather...
We've got a couple of arguments going at the moment, and T-34/ Tiger II etc are all covered. Join in.
Welcome (means I'm not the newbie any more. Yay! Somebody to look down on

Hey Bravo, welcome to the forum... We don't generally look down on new members, don't worry. ;)

In general, a heavy tank will win a one-on-one fight with a medium tank because generally its speed and manoeuverability isn't that much worse while its gun and armour are better. However, as you may have guessed, there are almost always more medium than heavy tanks in the field, and most tactical situations will involve more than two tanks in widely varying conditions. Heavy tanks can really be outnumbered, outmanoeuvred, and even simply outfought by good medium tank units and crews.

Peiffer said he could not have gone through the Ardennes with a bicycle, never mind a Tiger

    open field- heavy

in town and in places with small roads, hills and closed in, like a forrest. - medium

Remember the Germans had Mk1's, 2's and 3's in 1940 when they went around the Maginot line, between trees, cross country..

One broken Tiger could block a road for hours in the Ardennes in 1944.

Apologies if any offense was taken, none was intended. My "newbie" remark was (in my opinion) jocular, and not meant to denigrate.
