OK, give you a clue, the police use a modified version of this, neither a Bee, Wasp or Hornet but they could be!

It is , but a defensive weapon, in the way that 'Rommel's Spargel' was a weapon.

No, think WW1.Once again, the police use a multi modified version of this, and don't forget the point of the Bee, wasp and hornet!

David, the modernised version is a 'Stinger', which is a 'multi version' of points, Stinger, Bee, Hornet, Wasp, but WW1, four good points, not kind to animals....So, FNG has the answer a 'Caltrop', an anti cavalry device consisting of four metal points, no matter how placed one point is always pointing up, so unkind to cavalry horses.
The massed collection shown below was from 'Avenue Farm' near Messines.
(You can buy a modern version of these from Ebay! in packs of five,(to keep trespassers off your land!!)

As it's been a while anyone mind if I ask one?

    No? OK then... :D

What designation was used for the "enemy" fighters (Which F-5s proxied for) in the movie Top Gun? I'll accept the design bureau if that's the nearest anyone can come up with.

What links the captain of HMS Fredericksteen to the explorer Roald Amundsen, possibly by way of Michael Fish?
