I agree. But what i am merely pointing out is that the favour was not returned to the French isn't it?But of course i doubted the US would help a monarchy.
Castelot, Absolutely. Never have I doubted it. I don't believe in altruism for it's own sake. I have never expected gratitude from any country or people the US helped. We were also serving our own interests. I'm aware that some people would think differently because I'm quick to remind people how much the US contributed to the war..those are simply facts..I don't like to see the truth grossly misrepresented about the US with no one to challenge or present a different view.
kaiser wrote: Favors have nothing to do with it. You don't see me pointing out that just 5 years after the US defeated Japan (which incidentally saved China from Japanese occupation) the Chinese were sending hundreds of thousands of troops across the border to kill UN troops..their former allies and "friends". Our former ally the USSR would have tretaed it's former benefactor the US as brutally as they did the defeated Germans and the Eastern European countries if they had possessed the power to get away with it. Coincidentally the most duplicitious former allies were Communists..or was it coincidence?
Which is exactly the point. The world would be a peaceful place if people returned favours on an international scale. But that's just one of my utopian dreams which would include making every one's moral values similar to mine.LOL Anyway Grieg,i'm sure it's coincidence......
Roel: TD: I will not have any of your anti-French sentiment here, we've been through that. for once I didnt mean anything against the french Roel. next you might be saying that communism in its true form works? Well the idea of communism is good every ones equal perfect harmany ect.but it couldnt work in a country so thats why we have diffrent kinds.
To them, the most duplicitious former allies were Capitalists, but that's just perspective... TD: I was only stepping in before things got ugly - interpretation is a dangerous thing.
Well, if the statement above is what comes out when you "for once don't mean anything against the french " then I'd rather not know how it sounds when you mean something against them.... As a sidenote, you're of course wrong in your point.
i dont see how that would get anyone mad but i guess since your all "adults" and im a immature teen you know so much more then me and i know nothing. right? people on this form need to lighten up sometimes
Basically we all come to these forums to learn. Therefore I replied to you in order to correct your flawed information on a certain matter. And actually I do not have the pretention to have more knowledge than you....
It is very easy for other members to percieve things as insults or slurs at them, their beliefs or their nationalities. When they do, they tend to become particularly hot-headed. It is this that causes me to be wary of anything that can be interpreted as such, and it is why I ask you not to risk utterances like the one you made.
i guess i hate the internet becouse you cant show emotions other then smilies and i am sorry if i did offend anyone.
roel wrote: Hardly. What duplicitious actions did the Capitalists nations take against the Communists? Do you mean because they did not allow them to gobble up all of Europe instead of just the eastern European nations..or all of Korea?
