What does each of your countries do to honour veterans , i know that the Us has memorial day and possibly remembrance day. Up here in canada we have a remembrance day on November 11th each year , and everyone wears a synthetic poppy with a green or black center.
The same here in Britain, they also used to do Car Poppies for the radiator grill and at one point even larger poppies for the sides of houses although I haven't seen any of the latter for a couple of years. French Connection also sell a wine all year round which they make a donation to the Poppy Appeal (Minimum of £30,000 a year according to the label).
All the Dutch have is Remembrance Day, on May 4th, which is not dedicated to veterans alone but also to all those who suffered and died during WW2; in recent years it has been expanded to pretty much everyone who has ever suffered and/or died for Western values or for the Netherlands.
The USA also has November 11th, called Veteran's Day. Also have Memorial Day, last Monday in May, but it's not as Veteran specific.
Well if it is any consolation Che (And I know it probably wont be), but every British Remembrance Service I have attended has been to the dead and veterans of all wars, not just the British participants.
yeah Che, my principal mentioned that , he was dumfounded to why they didn't have some sort of remembrance thing for veterans in germany.
In France the classic remembrance day is November 11th, but May 8th also commemorates the fallen. November 11th is more specifically aimed at veterans tough.
