I've heard that the famous Iwo Jima photo was unintentionally taken...is this just a rumor?

Here's a site with a story pretty close to MARINE Historical and a pic of the First Flag coming down whilke the Second and more famous goes up. The first flag was put up under fire, but NEITHER was staged. in fact Mr. Rosenthal almost missed the second flag raising ceremony and the ALMOST missed the shot as well...

There is a book, FLAG(S) OF OUR FATHERS, written by James Bradley whose Father was one of the Marines involved which tracks the lives of the Marines who raised the Flag.

IMHO, The 2nd photo, which became world famous, was a PR exercise, and has been misrepresented through history.
