I was wondering if anyone can identify a tank for me. I took it's picture at the Wings Of Liberation Museum in Best, Netherlands. I've got notes on all the other pictures, but seem to have mislaid this one. I've tried looking on the internet, but thought I'd ask some experts. Thanks in advance:

Cheer Comet fan. That ties in a little with the snippet of information I have. The yellow plaque that can be seen just in front of the tank says: Tank M61 Frankrijk. Gebruikt door Zwitserse leger. Which according to Babelfish says: Tank M61 France. Uses by Swiss army.
I was puzzled as to why a Swiss tank was in a Second World War museum. Thanks though.

I've just been looking at pictures of PZ61's, and think you're right. Thanks a lot.

    Used by Swiss army.

I haven't been to this museum (yet), unfortunately, but I wouldn't have recognized this one for you, so I guess it's just as well. ;)

It is indeed a Pz 61.

    History: Pz58 - two prototypes completed in 1958/59,followed by 10 pre-production tanks in 1960/61;no full production.Pz61 - 150 delivered 1965/66,phased out of service by 1996.

I thoroughly recommend it. It's a very large site, with many tanks and field guns exhibited outside in a small wood. Then more still in a big hall. It's the best museum I've ever been to. Thanks for the correction as well, my Dutch is limited to (excuse the spelling) astubleefs and danke vell.

Thanks Mostonian, I will check it out some time.

I can recommend Diekirch if you like museums with an overload of stuff. They've got most things in threefold that other museums barely have one of. Unfortunately their collection of vehicles is rather small but they make up for it in small arms and equipment, as well as oddities (a model of the V3 for example).
