    I'm going to visit the battlefields of Ypres later this year. Any tips, places of intyerest off the beaten path, must sees, or general information gratefully received.

    try and visit the smaller cemetries dotted all over the countryside. the menin gate is alos worth a visit when the last post ceremony is done. What month are you going?

    We're going in November, to coincide with Armistice Day. There's five of us, and 3 have been before. I haven't though. We go to a different site each year. My first was Normandy in 2004, then last year we visited the sites of Market Garden.

    I'm going for a second time in October
    The Somme is about an !hr and half away and there are certainly many cemetries and battle sites about.

    You're very blessed to be able to do such trips. I've long wished to visit Omaha Beach and other such historic sites and museums, but it costs too much.
