Oh, for... People, go back and read the opening lines of my very first post in this topic. Then think about your recent posts.
My problems are not with immigrants per se, but with social groups/cultures that detract from a nation as a whole. What did you see in the countries you mentioned that really taught you something about life, smeghead? I admit that my lost post was written in anger. After coming to South Africa, seeing Soweto, seeing with myself how self destructive and fundamentally evil certain cultures are, it has changed me. You don't learn much as a tourist... I have visited many places as a tourist, yet I learned more of Soweto by living there for a few days than I have learned of other countries I have visited as a tourist. I'm not going to continue this discussion... we speak different languages and see the world through different perspectives. No matter how hard I tried to rationalize and reason, your view could not be changed. I call it the "Grieg TISO" effect
I have never been to Africa, nor do I know very much about it... Perhaps they do have an inhenrently evil society, people have told me that before... However I don't see how this causes African immigration to be a necessarily negative thing... Tough immigration screening and the "one strike you're out" policy are the solution, if this fails, then the problem is as much about the administration as the society... Stemming immigration completely will not achieve anything except undermining national industry... The crime rate will remain constant, they will just be committed by different people... To me, the idea that we can eradicate all the "bad people" in society is much more naive and "rosy-tinted" than what I am saying, don't you agree? Could be be just a tad more specific? I don't believe for one minute that my being less travelled than you makes me less knowlegable upon the intimacies of life... I simply have had different experiences to you, not inferior experiences... Thats no good reason! If we all did that, there'd be no discussion on the forum whatsoever...You're experiences in Africa would certainly aid the discussion
Man, it's a looong story... but to make it very short, I was placed there as a foreign exchange student by American Field Service, where they failed to meet all 3 absolute guarantees in their contract (3 meals a day, relatively safe neighbourhood, supportive local contact). I was there for 3.5 months before calling it quits, at which point I was buying the groceries for the family with my pocket money. AFS South Africa is an incredibly PC organisation that tries to get as many "township placements" as possible. Last year, 35 out of 40 exchange students switched families or went home. None of the 5 that didn't were township placements. In Norway, about 10% switch, for comparison.
It will probably end up as Zimbabwe is now... Remove white rule, what a generation or two, and the situation declines for everyone but a small black oligarchy
How about the middle kingdom? In its recorded 5000 years of history,we have seen much political upheavals and civil wars.(it's interesting to note that the numbers fielded in a single battle is comparable to the armies fielded for an entire war in Europe.)And the Chinese have generally considered all non-HAN people to be well, not that great. In fact, even a chinese whose nationality is not Chinese would be rather despised.Hence,it's not about the colours,it's just about the majority. I think racism has too much been associated with the whole whites and blacks issue.I think racism takes two hands to clap and that everybody is as guilty of it as the next person
No, but this ironical question proves that you aren´t interessted in understanding the posts of other users, coz you´re emotional involved. So, it was just a conclusion, it doesn´t have to mean anything Aren´t you the guy who doesn´t read the posts of other users carefuly and who doesn´t want to understand ? ^^
How am I emotionally involved? It would be nice of you to back up a statement like that with evidence... Personally I think you are extremely emotionally involved in every post you make, juding by some of your comments, which are very intense... However, in no way would I ever imply that any emotion on your part would discredit your arguments... They are just as valid as ever, and its nice to know I'm not arguing with a robot I would just prefer if you did the same, and concentrated less upon personally insulting me and more upon arguing rationally...
Ok, less subtle hints now. Debate the argument, don't argue the debate. Stop talking about each other and start talking about the issue. Any further infringements will be moderated.
