It is Hitler's birthday today, and the forum was founded on August 29th 2003. Roxy's suggestion is the only thing I can think of...
We love and cherish our mothers, yet there's a day allocated for that. Sure, it's just another day, but it has an unknown tradition that makes its celebration necessary, to me at least. It's like Christmas; we celebrate it, but most of its meaning has been lost.
Yes, and if I may hijack your good-natured topic for a bit of Roel-trademark humbug - that's nonsense. People who need a special day to remind their mothers that they love them, do not love their mothers. The same goes for Valentine's Day.

Well, Valentine's Day is supposed to be about revealing your affection for somebody, not about doing something romantic for your significant other. However, I suppose somebody realised that you can make more money if you make people expect romance on Feb 14th. For Mothers Day - well, broadly I agree, but even people who do love their mothers can follow it if they wish!
My point is that if you love someone I suppose you would show that on every opportunity, and whoever it is would know already. This goes for mothers, too, not just lovers. And personally I think that whoever reveals his affection for someone on February 14th has shockingly little self-respect and imagination. No offense to anyone. Hey Ricky, how about that Valentine tank, eh?
LOL! Well, I'm not worried, I personally do not do either Mothers Day or Valentines Day - by request of my mother and my lover respectively.
