Amazing, if we remember, that such small "things" caused the turning point in the PTO and ended the era of the battleships

btw, where are pics from ?

    Regards,
    Che

I don't think they are particulary small

When I was on the Hornet in SF I was shocked as they had an Avenger or Dauntless or some other famous WW2 carrier plane and they are actually really big to stand next to.

Yeah, but compared to some of the ships that they sank they are tiny... ;)

Compared to modern combat aircraft, this bird is small. But it is actually a good sized plane. This warbird can be found in Concourse A of Chicago's Midway Airport. These are are the best shots I could get due to the lighting and limited area that I could use to photograph it.Thanks Panzer for posting these.

I'm pretty sure it's a Wildcat (F4F), a replica of the fighter Butch O'Hare flew when he won his Medal of Honor defending the lexington.

I'm jealous that you guys have WW2 planes in your airports!

They are a nice addition, but unfortunately, the vast majority of people(just about everyone but me that is)breeze right past these birds not giving a rats ass about them. It's quite sad.Over on your side of the pond,a big to-do was made about recovering the engine of a Hurricane after 60 years, while over here these mint examples of the arsenal of democracy go unnoticed.
