Roel visited for a week, and we spent the time watching movies, in the mountains, eating, discussing, or doing something tank related! Some of the pictures taken... A good picture of the "Gjende" lake in Jotunheimen (Giants Home) National Park in Norway. We spent the week going on hikes around this area, eating food, and scaring the other tourists with excessive swearing and tank talk. The vertical drop was pretty high at places, around 400-500 meters (1500 feet?) I felt a little woozy taking this anyway  A view from the top.. by this time, our lungs were informing us that oxygen concentration was dropping Roel looking smooth.. Group shot at the ledge, silly looking bugger on the right is me "Besseggen", a steep climb to be sure.. 1:1 and steeper at times  Glacial water, saturated with fine dust, frictiondeposited by grinding glaciers The dog, Roels antinemesis. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!! WHAT IS THE DOG DOING HERE?!" ... More to come, including Roels heroic scaling of an M24 Chaffee at the defense museum!
That view of the lake is gorgeous. Are you allowed to fish in there, and if so, what's to catch? I have come to realize that Roel does indeed speak as if he were a salior in Blackbeard's fleet.
Yes, one is allowed to fish in all the national park lakes! As for swearing.. they're all the adjectives Roel will ever need, it seemed!
Roel swears? I would have thought he was the example of courtesy. It msut be all that pent up frustration at having to keep the members of this forum in line!
Why is their a girl wearing an I <3 NY shirt...in norway. She one of the tourists that you were frightining It's always weird seeing pics of other members, they look completely different than you imagine.
he's only warming up to kick Roel out of Norway because he swore  looks like you two had a nice time together. i wish i was there, i sure love to hike (it's two years since i last hiked (in the alps), that is, if you don't mention walking through the ardennes)
By my standards Roel doesn't swear that often, but when he does, he does it good. It is said that the Dutch are creative and have a large vocabulary when it comes to swearing. If you were to ever come here, go to the Hague(/den Haag), and punch the roughest person you can find saying the weakling deserved it; interesting conversation will be garanteed,( and pain is a likely extra option).
I do look a bit daft in that picture... Thanks for posting the pics, Panzerman. As you can all see, we had a great time. Norway is a beautiful (if expensive) country and definitely a great place to meet up with longtime forum members for a nice chat about tanks. I only swear when I'm talking to people whom I know do not take offence (hence not on the forums, probably also not as much when I met Ricky). However, this often makes me ignore whoever else might be present.
Probably an age thing, Ricky. No stern looks at verbal immaturity from me  I'm sad that I cannot make it to the Brussels Army Museum, would have loved meeting the rest of you guys !
do not underestemated the Belgians. we have a history of violence and we sure know how to swear . okay, the dutch are good in swearing but just in dutch. we swear in dutch, french, german and english and also in flamish off course try to beat that
Might I suggest that you dispose of that food before it becomes self-aware and begins devouring certain junior forum members!
