Building your air force: 1942: Superiority threatened

It's 1942 and the Luftwaffe are threatening to overthrow your command of the skies. You need 1000 extra fighters to equip your air force. Which ones will you choose?*
*Chosen aircraft must have been in service by 1942.

 

Assuming no help from the United States (that is I would not be supplied larger quantities of P-39 & P-40 that were used by RAF in '41), I would try to make use of the large quantity of Boulton-Paul Defiants that were produced, by converting them to the single-seater version that had already been built and tested 1940 as a contingency plan.
Hurricanes could be produced faster and more easily than Spitfires, so I would get as much performance out of them by using the 1450-1620 HP class Merlins on a Mk IIa airframe for maximum speed/manueverability, hopefully 350mph+ instead of ~340 with the 1280 HP.
The wooden Mosquitos fortunately were made by other manufacturers, so I think I could increase numbers of those as well without affecting the manufacture of single-engine fighters. FB version as bomber destroyers, and night intruders to attack thier bases. If I could enlist Canada's help, I would at least like to have large quantities of Mosquito airframes made and shipped to England, unless they would be able to also produce Merlin engines in time, then they could be flown over with either new Canadian crews, or by ferry pilots.
I also like the idea of converting the Whirlwind to use the Merlin engine for production, but there are complications to this apparently. If this were possible, I feel it would have been a better FB than the Typhoon with the troublesome Sabre engines, and would have been fast enough to evade and/or chase down the FW-190 in 1942.
Anyway, there's some ideas for additional aircraft during the time when so many existing factories were already busy increasing production of the Spitfire.

Then no other country would provide me with fighters i guess (UK is to buissy building for their own) and US can only give me their useless crap (they keep their good stuff for themselves)....Germany and it's allies wouldn't sell me anything (good) because they are about to attack me!
The only suggestion would built them yourself...but even then where do i get the pilots??
So in that point of view i better wait and do nothing as it's a waist of resources or let the Allies use my country as base of attack...hopefully they want to help me :bang:
