What is the cost of a modern fighter?
    Lets say F-22, Eurofighter Typhoon, Su-33,F-15E, F-16E, F/A-18 and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
How much more expensive for instance is a F-22 vs the Su-33
    Maintenance cost?

I heard that one kind of fighter jet cost $12 million per plane. I think it was the F16.

Are you sure that there isn't something that costs $12 million, Notmi? Because I personally heard on a DVD that some kind of fighter jet in the USAF costs that much. Might not have been an F16 variant, though. And are you sure the F117 costs less than the Super Hornet? Because, well, it just seems that stealth aircraft should be more expensive than normal aircraft, beacause of all the tech involved in stealth aircraft, like the F117.

Firstly, I believe that those costs without mentioning what year dollars we are talking about are from planes early years. And like we all know, you got more with one dollar back in 1986 than year 2006. If those costs were all with fiscal year 98 constant dollars, they could be easily compared.

Yep, that looks accurate. The current estimate for the 'cheap' F-35 JSF is $50-60m, depending on type.

You won't get any fighter for $12m, except second-hand, out-of-date ones.

    Great....but still i don't think it's correct
    AE18 almost as expensive as a F-22???

In April 2006 the cost for each F-22A is assessed by the Government Accountability Office to be $361 million per aircraft.
I've seen somewhere 200 million per aircraft but much more than the estamated 90 million they originally planned

18 million for F-15 MODS what does that mean...only an update/modifacation?

EA-18 is a specialised electronic warfare aircraft - airframe costs will be minimal compared to the amount of technological gadgetry installed in it.

You are right i mistook it for "normal" 18...the EA-18 Growler is the replacement for the Prowler (and so shouldn't be on the fighter list)!

The cost of each F-22 will have been seriously increased by the drastic reduction in the number to be bought.

Was the Hawk 200 single-seat fighter variant ever produced?
I had the impression it would be a cheap paltform that could launch the latest missiles, with room for plenty of avionics, as there is one crew instead of the usual 2.
Does anyone know about this project, or the cost of the aircraft?
    Thanks!

Yes, but AFAIK it was only sold to Indonesia.

I believe they even kept the Aden 25 guns, which makes them unique.

    Thanks for that.

I knew that the Aden 25 had been cancelled for the Harrier GR.7, I couldn't find out what had happened about the Hawk 200, which was supposed to carry two of them internally.

I wonder why they didn't mount 30mm Adens internally? There was space.

I still don't get why the Super Hornet costs more than the Nighthawk.

The Nighthawks were built a long time ago - the Super Hornets are relatively new. So you're not comparing costs on the same basis.
