Tank destroyers were generally equipped with a high velocity gun to engage enemy armor, assault guns were generally low velocity guns designed to be used against strongpoints and fortifications, buildings, or in direct support of infantry. etc..... It seems to me that especially in german service the distinctions between the two was greatly diminished, The StuG series really filled both roles, whereas the Brummbar and Sturmtiger are better examples of pure assault gun

I just need to know what a StuG III will be considered for the build as that is what I want to do.

Personally i would consider a StuG a tank destroyer first...assault gun secondary but thats just my opinion

The StuG was initially designed as an assault gun.

However, with only 3 hours to go 'Tank Destroyer' has a big lead.

This might mean I will have to go and buy a kit...

    JC,

Assault guns are basically mobile artillery. Self Propelled guns, with usually greater calibre than tankdestroyers. They also have only very little armour, since they usually operate a few kilometres behind the frontline.

We´re not having a poll on which exact vehicle it´s going to be? (that's alright with me, but I thought we'd have another poll...am I mistaken? You may be right anyway, since it seems rather useless having antoher one.)

If everyone agrees, it's going to be a TD, and the 6 weeks of time will start thursday, 12.00h GMT...

    Whoa!

We will be having a poll on the exact type of vehicle, sorry for the confusion.

However, I will still need to go and buy a kit because I have no TD kits at all.

Are we going to all build the same vehicle type?Or are we going to build different vehicles that fit the chosen category?

well that's still a question to me as well. Both options have advantages. The first option, "we all build thesame" guarantees a lot of competition and really comparable results; whereas "we all just build any TD" would add to the diversity of the lot.

Which option has your preference, ST?

I thought it was that we were all going to make the same. Still, we could all do different for the first comp... Opinions?

Let's just pick any vehicle that fits the winning category. There are way too many German vehicles in any category to list.

    I don't care as long as I get to build a StuG. ;) :D

Fellas, I do know the technical differences between TD's and AG's. Since they were combined as a single category in the first poll and seperated in this one, I was hoping for a clear ruling for the project.

I would like to see just an open category and let folks build different vehicles. At least in this first build. We can get more definitive in later builds.
