Just a quick question. Do we have to pic a camo scheme that the tank was actual seen in or is it totally up to the builder.
I'm off to a good start so far.The JT is built.I painted, shaded, highlited and weathered the wheels because I had to install the tracks and skirts which would have gotten in the way otherwise.By the end of today I should have the skirts painted and the basic camo scheme finished. After that, all I'll need to do is shade, highlite the rest of the vehicle then decal it. BTW,are we limited to one entry only?In six weeks time I could get more than a few done.
Started getting things ready to apply some paint, couldnt get any paint to come out of airbrush, took it apart and couldnt believe my eyes, tip was smashed and needle was bent badly, like someone had removed the nozzle and then dropped the airbrush it onto a concrete floor, a couple of people have borrowed it recently, so I gotta assume that the last one that had it did it..note to self, always check your stuff out when someone returns it. There goes 25 bucks out the window.......
Well what I was thinking for my Jagdpanther is a base of panzer gray with bent panzer yellow lines in many directions. Some what like the BR 52 featured in the workbench review section of the September 2006 issue of Finescale Modeler.
Dennis; You didn't let Jim take it over to Fred's shop did you? General Target may have had a hand in it.
LMAO..if i let it get taken to freds it would probably be able to paint a 1/2 inch circle at 50 yards. The buddy i lent it to is a stand up guy, he was probably cleaning it and either dropped it or dropped something on it, its likely he didnt notice any damage.. The parts werent too expensive, ordered them online tonight, should be here in a couple of days...I was just all excited about finally getting some paint on this thing, I spent a good part of the day working on colors, the stock Tamiya colors just dont look right to me, maybe its because of the scale, they seem way too dark. For the green, I ended up custom mixing 3 different colors to get the shade i liked, For the yellow, Tamiya dark yellow and a little flat white looked pretty good, and for the red-brown I ended up mixing Tamiya Hull Red (XF-9) with some Flat White.
Dennis; Something I discovered when I got involved in building/painting small scale wargaming miniatures is that the smaller the scale is the darker the paint seems. It's a trick of the eyes but if you want it to look right you will have lighten the colors a little or do some lighter drybrushing. If you think that's dark, try doing some 1/100 scale tanks.
It's difficult to say whether nonreal paintschemes are allowed. But since you've already made it I'm willing to accept it alright. Though I wouldn't really be in favour of it myself, I do think it might add some nice aspect to your build. In any case I am very curious to see the result! Too bad about your paintbrush willys. I can really understand your eagerness to get some paint on it! Lucky that the Build covers 6 weeks, so there's enough time to repair it. Sturmtiger, I think you may build as many models in these 6 weeks as you want, but I'm afraid I can only accept one for the judgement... so maybe if you build many, you can pick the best Awesome to hear that you're already talking about the finishing touches to your model, compared to others who have to wait for their kit or paintbrush parts... I guess you're the lucky guy! Good luck on the job all, greets PP
The smallest tanks i have are 1/700 LMAO I'll do one of those for the next build (joking of course), lightening the colors seems to have solved my issues, I guess too much 1/35 gets a fellow kinda set in his ways
I've got the base color and camo done. Now it's time for the tedious part.Shading, highliting, detail painting and finally decals.I should be finished in a couple of days.
I have been doing this for years.I have building model tanks down to a science.I also have plenty of free time.
After the Bears game Monday night,I worked on my Jagdtiger while my girlfriend painted her M10.She is da bomb!
Well, i got the airbrush parts today..got the correct tip (small) but the wrong needle(medium) Even with this combo I got the airbrush to at least work, although my paint volume control is nil, I got the pre-shading done so far, hopefully will get some color on tonight
