After the success of the 2006 trip to the Brussels Army Museum, who wants to go on a museum trip in 2007, and where?
Only if you think we have the time to fit in the museum as well. Sincere apologies for hijacking your serious thread Ricky.
I've already got vacation projects en masse, with more to come, so I don't know if I'd be able to join anything
Which month are we talking about and are there any proposed sights yet (other than Mobile - on a side issue ,why is it named that as I don't know if it's ever moved?)?
Come to Singapore,i'll bring you to see where some of the bloodiest battles were fought.Besides that,Singaporeans are known for our appetites...so you can expect very good food...and i wun have to travel..lol
Unfortunately Eurostar are appently cutting services from Ashford, although Ebsfleet International will be available by then and is only about a half hour drive away.
"Where" and "what" is entirely open as yet. "When" is usually in august (2007), when most people will have returned from their summer holidays. I will attend if at all possible. I love meeting forum members in real life, so far it has been a string of very positive, enriching experiences. For 2008 we cannot let another Bovington Tankfest pass by us, so that one's already settled. However, in 2007 I don't know of any similar events so all suggestions are welcome. Personally I would very much like to come to America, but I realize that it will be a financial problem for most European members.
What about 2 seperate continental meet ups ? One group of north americans can meet up in north america, while in europe the euros can meet up.
What about the Patton museum in Ft. Knox, Kentucky? Great post, great museum and the home of US armor!
Cholbert; You are mispronouncing the name. It's pronounced Mo-beel. It's taken from the name the French colonist gave to the local Choctaw Indians. As for military stuff, we have USS Alabama Battleship Park that features the WW2 battleship, submarine USS Drum, AFV displays and aircraft. There is also Fort Conde', a reconstructed French fort from old Mobile. To the south at the entrance to Mobile Bay are Forts Morgan and Gaines, from the Civil War Battle of Mobile Bay and to the east is Blakeley Battlefield which is also from the Civil War. About an hour to the east is NAS Pensacola which has the National Museum of Naval Aviation, probably the best aviation museum in this part of the world. A few hours west is New Orleans which has the D-Day museum and the War of 1812 battlefield. I can also arrange some shooting time at the shooting club. Myself and several other members have WW2 era firearms (including full auto) and you'll get to shoot them. :bang:
Really sorry , but there arent many asians on the forum. Seeing how europe is closer maybe you can meet up with the euros ?
