hehe, thats a nice one for our british lads, simon, ricky, merlin, dave etc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGjw7sZg ... ed&search= You have an interessting and awesome history, Oliver Cromwell, Elisabeth I, James I., Churchill, the iron lady and so on. Regards, Che.
posting. Che, no matter that I have not always seen eye to eye with you in the past, all is forgotten, you have made my day, Thank you! Brian.S.14478711. Queens Bays/ 1st.Kings Dragoon Guards.
The pic with the column of Churchills is of 4th Battalion, the Coldstream Guards, 6th Guards Tank Brigade. Taken in November 1944. In the background you can see the Panther they 'borrowed' from the Germans.
Seriously Merlin, the guy is only human, you can't expect him to know the drivers first name. You're asking Roel though, I expect the next post to contain the drivers; surname and initial(s), date of birth, rank and last known address.
Though I did find this interesting article about the Cuckoo: http://www.twenot.nl/cuckoo.htm I'm afraid it does not mention the name of the driver. Seriously though, I just remembered having seen that picture before so I looked it up. It can be found in "British Tanks of WWII (2), Holland & Germany 1944/1945" by David Fletcher.
post subject. David Fletcher? I actually know him!!!! Chalk one up for Merlin! A first 'Brownie' Point!!!
post subject. Thank you Roel, but, I hasten to assure you that not all of my aquaintances are of such renoun, some are quite obnoxious! When you've been around as long as I have you have met all kinds. David F. is librarian/curator at Bovvy, another brilliant book by him is worth finding, 'Tanks in Camera' The Western Desert 1940-1943.' This book is a collection of photos by serving soldiers that the Tank Museum has acquired. First published in 1998 by Sutton Publishing, and in 2000 by 'Budding Books', definitely worth looking for.
Hey Roel, you wouldn't happen to know the titiles of all the songs that was listed in the video do you?Can Merlin help me with this?I really like Rule Britannia.
tribute. Hello Kaiser, song titles are as follows, glad you liked them.......... Opening Medley, British Grenadiers, second tune eludes me at moment ,(got a feeling it's ' 'Lily Bolero') There'll always be a lady fair, (poss. not correct title) Men of Harlech (Welsh) ........................................ Danny Boy. ( Irish)(once sang this on Rhein Ferry with Irish friends.) Jerusalem Rule Britannia. Land of Hope and Glory. . .................................
Y'know, being who and what I am, I'm more than willing to 'talk trash.' As a Marine, I take jabs at the Army (especially my brother in the National Guard!), the Navy, and the Air Farce. I've been known to take an occasional shot at another nation's troops, if they're standing by to receive fire, as it were. But, similar to something I said to a Finn the other day, I'll stand proudly shoulder to shoulder with any of the lads from the UK and Commonwealth Forces, any day of the week. Good video. Good lads all.
