Had some issues with my camera, you will notice a real glare coming through the windows, I don't know how to get rid of that. As a result a lot of the pictures inside are dark. For my computer, if you turn contrasts and brightness up to 100%, they are pretty good. This tank mesuem was in Russia, here are only the WWII tanks, but it sported many tanks from 1945 onwards, including a challenger 1 and the hull of an abrams (no insides, just the outsides, a shell of the tank). Even then many of the WWII tanks I did not take picture of because of memory card limits, and the fact this was the first week of the tour, and there was lots more to see. They literally had every german tank, from the panzer 1, to many specialized TD units, marauders with different chassis. SU-100 ISU-152 Valintine, Stuart, ISU-152, IS-2, T-34/85, T-34/76, T-70(?) Jagdpanther and Jagdpanzer Jagdtiger, Kind Tiger, SturmTiger, Tiger Stug IIIG late, Stug IIIG early Elephant, Panzerselbstfahrlafette V, and an Pak 43 on a tank chassis at the very side. Couldnt get rid of glare. Panzer IVG, Hetzer, 38T. The maus and a charming picture of me (groan). I mistakenly deleted the photo of the maus itself, so this is the only pic I have of it. Just to give you a idea of its size, I am 6 foot 2 inches tall. DAC and AEC Matilda Churchill VII (Flame variant ?) Cromwell and UC Comet Lee, Sherman, Sherman 76, and you can barely make out the Super Sherman right next to the 76. T-44 I dunno what the one of the left is, but the one on the right was that land battle ship with 5 turrets and 20mm of armor. KV-85 (I think) and ISU-152 R-35, H39, S35 Panhard and assortment of other french armored cars. Assortment of Jap tanks Me on a T-34/85 One of my favorate picutres, a T-34 and 57mm gun facing a monument at Kursk. IS-2, monument at the northern saliant at kursk, dipicting the direction the Germans came from, and about the area they were stopped.
Well they did say it was the largest tank meusem in the world, but I just wasn't sure if it was national pride saying that or if it was true.
Thanks for sharing! Very good photographs in deed. A small tip: When taking photographs inside, always override the auto-selection and use flash. It'll give you the best results.
Kubinka is most probably The largest tank museum. Everthing they captured/built/borroved/stole was tested on test ground Kubinka and ended in their museum. A lot of their equipment is in working order. BTW King tiger is known 502 from 501.HTB captured in Ogledov in august 1944 and later tested in Kubinka Considering they completly blasted it apart (look at the pic's) they did a remarkable job of putting it together.
Very nice pictures! Thanks for sharing them... This museum looks like it could wage its own small-scale war...
I'm certainly jealous now... The Churchill Mk.VII is a Churchill Crocodile by the way, to answer your question mark. The multi-turreted tank is a T35 it seems.
I believe many of those tanks are in such good condition they can move on their own. I was a bit disappointed because the panther was being driven around somewhere so I didn't get to see it.
Both Kubinka and Monino are in fact still military bases. For non Russian it hard to get in except in organised tour announced few days before the visit. BTW a lot of ther tanks are indeed in running order. For Russia Tankmen day they have reenactments with original ww2 tanks (both German and Soviet).
http://pblinov.narod.ru/photo.htm Some my photo... And see also http://panzermehaniker.borda.ru/?0-6 My "book" soviet tanks on monuments. Excuse me, but on russian langrge only. With best regards, Pavel http://www.kubinka.ru
Spasiva Pavel. Do you have any interior pic's of T-70? I'm not sure about shape, size and location of ammo bin in the tank (i have half finished UM model waiting for info).
