Departed was excellent! Great story, very well written. The ending caught me off guard, though!

    It's a Trilogy.

    Infernal Affairs I,II and III.

I like the Hong Kong version better as the ending is better. The Departed was rather anti-climax at the end.

All you guys should watch this.

Woody,I'll have you know that the Departed was BASED ON Infernal Affairs rather than the other way round...you go figure it out whether there is any supernatural powers.

I saw it yesterday evening. The elevator scene when Leo gets his head blown of was shocking. Didn't saw that one comming.
Story is good, although hard to follow in the beginning but after that, just great. I do think that Nicholson had the best lines.

Why does Matt Damon gets shot in the end? Was the other guy also a rat or was he just so much pissed of because he was fired? Thats the question i ask myself the past hours.

Because Wahlberg's character realized that Damon was the rat, and that he got his buddy killed. You've heard the saying "payback is a b*tch?"

quillen ..the first rule in discussing movies is to let the movie itself tell the storie ...the movie begins at the beginning and ends at the end ..let people who have not seen the movie ,see the end of the movie at the end ...otherwise the storie is kinda ruined...see what i mean?....and kaiser ...i copy that this movie is a copy of a chinese movie ...what i was askiing is are the actions of the actors and storie line in infernal affairs , belivable ..ie no flying 40m feet karate kicks or ramboesque gunfights...this stuff is ok for the bubblegum set (12 year olds) ,but it ruins the movies for adults ..imo

Admittedly I hated Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon but you have to consider it as a fairy tale, because that's what it is. The martial abilities of the main characters are ridiculously exaggerated because they're, well, not real. Intentionally. Infernal Affairs is not of the same genre and therefore not likely to be the same, much like The Departed is not like Troy.

Besides, the ridiculous flying moves can actually create a form of visual poetry that works nicely if the plot is well-written and interesting. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon failed in this respect and so did House of Flying Daggers. Hero, however, did not.

Crouching Tiger was frankly hilarious - watch it as mild comedy and it turns from irritatingly stupid to mildly amusing. ;)

slightly of topic: Anybody see Blood Diamond with Leo Di Caprio? At the end is this scene with a Hind helicopter in action, bombing a rebel camp.

Blood Diamond did a pretty good job showing exactly how messed up Africa is these days.

For those who hated Crouching Tiger - really, watch Hero. It is so much better that it might actually take away the obvious aversion you have gained towards Chinese martial arts movies.
