It isn't a matter of "serving" the Iraqi government. As long as the lawfully elected government and leaders desire the US forces to be there to assist in stabilizing the country then there is a good reason to remain. In case you hadn't noticed the majority of the violence isn't directed at the US forces but at Sunnis or Shiites by each other so the US forces leaving will not end the violence. The Iraqi leaders and others believe that the US leaving would create a vacuum and lead to far worse violence and possibly open civil war. I'm not sure what your point is. There is no widespread grassroots uprising against the US "invaders" by the people. The insurgents are organized by militia leaders within Iraq and maintained and financed by people outside Iraq (Syria, Iran, Al Queda). I have no doubt that even the Iraqis that do not violently oppose the US forces would like to them leave as no one likes to see foreign troops on their soil. Unfortunately leaving abruptly would not be the responsible thing to do as it would likely destabilize the country. It's not Vietnam but it is nonetheless a quagmire.
Actually Saddam and his Baath-party were far away of being respecting the Qur-ran. Saddam saw himself as a social revolutionary and a modernizer, following the Nasser model. To the consternation of Islamic conservatives, his government gave women added freedoms and offered them high-level government and industry jobs. Saddam also created a Western-style legal system, making Iraq the only country in the Persian Gulf region not ruled according to traditional Islamic law (Sharia). Saddam abolished the Sharia law courts, except for personal injury claims. The Qur-ran says ... to the topic, if they don´t like america, it´s their problem, they can leave it easily and go to europe or somewhere else. But they don´t, coz they got high with their "morality", perhaps they see themselves as crusaders, but I don´t care. However they discredit themselves by praying for the death for other human beings. Don´t forget that there are enough people who holding the flag for america. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCW5YGYbFc0 Regards, Che.
Not rolling the eyes at you Grieg, I agree with you wholeheartedly on this one... Rolling them at some of the opinions I've seen in the media lately... Here in Australia, there are more and more 'get out of Iraq' messages being broadcast, as Howard begins to up the commitments... Not sure what its like in America, or Iraq... But I read in TIME magazine that as the war goes on both American's and average Iraqi's are growing more and more reluctant to about the NATO occupation, even though they seem to offer the only small measure stability in the region. I agree that the Coalition has a responsibility to remain in Iraq... AFAIK the violence is centralised in the centre of Iraq, around Baghdad... Some areas like the Kurdish North are significantly more stable than they were under Saddam... Edit: Yes Che I agree with you too (wow, this sure is a strange day) The point I meant to make was that the Batthists intepreted the Koran as they saw fit... Adopting what 'laws' were convienient for them and neglecting those that weren't... Many problems with the New Iraqi Constitution, unfortunately democratic principles often seem mutually exclusive with the pre-Baathist provision that "No law is valid if it contradicts Islamic Law" (i.e. the Koran) Che's case of women being a good example... How can you have equality for women when the Koran forbids it?
How the heck did this end up with the USA in Iraq? I know. I'm just dying to ask them to point out where in the Bible it says to act like they do, and then ask why they have actually ignored, uh, the Bible. I know it would do no good at all (they'd probably brand me as a messanger of Satan or something  ) but I'd like to do it.
Wait, this isn't a joke? I saw their "GOD HATES SWEDEN" webpage and laughed. Now I am torn between laughing and crying.
Maybe she tried out for that team of topless girls trying to get drivers to slow down, and didn't make the grade!! Or was that Denmark? Hell, I can't remember. All you Euros look the same...
Yeah, I seen that page as well. You should see the full BBC documentry video. Its hilarious when their protesting near the center of town and people driving by or stopping in traffic are hurling insults such "as crazy bitch" and so on at her and her family, lol
