I am looking for statistics on panzer deployment on the different fronts, that is, number of panzer operating in the eastern and western front and so on. I have some data but I would like to find more:

For example, by the times the allied landed in Normandy there were approximately 2000 tanks and SPG in the western front, compared to ~7800 in the eastern. I don't have data on other periods though. It would also be nice to know the german strength composition; how many Pz-IV, V and VI were operational. I have read that the Panther became the most common german tank in 1945 but I would like to check this fact.

    Regards.

    Hmmmm.
No specifics for you, but I do question the Panther as the most plentiful in 1945. I would have thought the Stugs, Marders and Hetzers would outnumber the remaining Panthers at that stage of the conflict.
Or are were going on the strict definition of "Panzer" as opposed to "Panzerjager?"

For the Panther case I was talking strictly about Panzer models. And yes, I also do question that fact. The Pz-IV was produced in greater numbers during the war, so you would expect it to remain the the mainstay of the Panzerwaffe.

Sure, the StuGs were more numerous than any panzer model.

    Regards.
