did anyone notice that several movies have copied history. in the movie lion king there is a part that looks like a nazi rally and the animals do the goose step. also doesn't darth vader's helmat look like a german army helmat.

I remember the comedian Eddie Izzard once pointing out that all the actors from the "Evil Empire" in star wars were British and all the Rebels were American, citing a relationship to the War of Independance.

In the V miniseries the aliens resembled the nazis, and the humans the underground resistance. The aliens logos even look similar to the swastika.

As I recall much of Star Wars was filmed in Britain which probably explains the lesser roles (which hadn't already been cast by Lucas)being given to Brits. Also, apologies to Eddie Izzard (whoever he is)but I don't think Sir Alec Guinness can be called American.

I missed a program on the Star Wars legacy the other night, though I walked past the telly a couple of times.

They were discussing tie-ins with history, literature, religion and things like that. It actually looked like it might have been an interesting show. I mean, they even mentioned the Enabling Act specifically!

I was not saying he was right, or using his idea was correct, he is a British comedian and used this idea as part of a Sketch on his show Dressed To Kill which was filmed in the USA.

    Here's the sketch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjC3R6jOtUo
warning for younger members strong language!

There's a Hollywood "thing" about getting Brits (or non-Americans) to play bad guys, especially in action films.

Die Hard (Brit playing a German)/ Passenger 57 (Aussie)/ True Lies (Brit)/ Batman Begins (Irish)/ etc etc. I vaguely remember an interview where the justification was that Brits (or Europeans) manage to portray "urbane evil" better than Americans.
Still not sure if that's compliment or not. :D
