Awesome, well done

All ships were build by one person Dieter Gärtner from Heidelberg it took more then thirty years to build 66 ships.

They look pretty accurate to me, within the limits of the medium.

I have to say, the matchstick Kriegsmarine looks a lot better then the Titanic.

It's probably already outlasted the original though... ;)

I gotta agree with Quillin on this one; the German ships looked a lot better than did the ersatz TITANIC. Especially the S-boats. ;)

the amount of planning required must have been unreal. i wonder if he used autocad. my hat is off to Dieter Gärtner, i could never do something like that.

    matchstick mania

I think you'll find all the sticks come in the kit, personally do not appeal to me, finished models or the time used to build em.

    Matchstick ships

These models are quite exquisite, and are equalled only by those made of mutton bones by Napoleonic war French prisoners incarcerated in the Norman Cross prisoner of war camp near Peterborough. I used to habituate a little pub called "The Fox" built almost on the site of that camp and it was a commonplace to see ghostly lights out in the fields where the camp once was !

    Re: matchstick mania

Well, it's not a hobby I'd care to take up, but the guy did show a certain amount of skill in making them.
