Oh, I scrapped that. I took a math course this summer, plus I'm starting school in September and the training extends almost till October. I'll probably join the Royal Newfoundland Regiment in the fall if I dont have to take 3 straight months of training in the middle of the year(which I probably won't)
You scrapped the Navy?!?! Wow, I didn't know you had that much power!!!! Seriously, good luck with your plans.
Corp, I liked the inference that as soon as he decided he was learned in math, he dumped joining the Navy, and opted for the Army instead!
whatever CSP, is the Royal Newfoundland Regiment regular army or is it reserve or Territorial, I can't really understand your post, what sort of training at school are you speaking of?
Re: whatever Royal Newfoundland Regiment is officially listed as a reserve infantry regiment, allthough there are full time reservists and maybe some full time regular force. Basic Training. If I joined the navy reserve I would have to take training from July till late september-early october, and I start school in early September. In the army reserve I have known people who have joined in mid year and they dont go off for 3 months training or anything, so I assume its gradual on the job till summer, and full time for a short while in the summer.
NAH. I bet it was much like me. I saw the light in the middle of the night and it spoke unto me: " You were a idiot since you were born and bullshitter since you spoke your first words. Go my son and be infantry. Go kill, mame, destroy and pillage for you country." The rest i don't really remember as i was pissed to my eyeballs Good choice. A rustbucket in the middle of the empty ocean is a rather conspicius target. + they can't sink your boat if you are on dry land. Good to have another reserve infantryman on the forum ( i still have 1,5 years to finish my contract with the motherland)
The Navy has a more comfortable day to day life, but they get quite bored I imagine.Your right in saying that they do make a conspicous target, and if the ship is hit, especially with modern torpedoes, then your usually looking at least 25% of the crew dying, whether from the actual detonation or the sea water. Also, I need to pace around and move my legs around, and the ship seems so confining if I were on it, lol. Even a desk jobn is confining, lol.If I had joined I would have gotten stuck behind a desk, lol
I can confirm that fact. Plenty of that in the infantry. At least you are not going to be a tractor driver (the tanker - pun intended)
CSP Still confused, let us know when you are in, School, Navy, Army, What-ever, what exactly are you doing now? the suspense is killing!!
Re: CSP Im doing a math course upgrade this summer. In the fall I plan on joining the army reserve, going back to school for an extra year to do some courses, and college to do advanced math. Thereafter, I plan on trying on applying for RMC(royal military college) or do an military funded plan at the local university.
