Hi guys, I purchased a K98 bayonet recently. Trying to find more info on it. Is it genuine? It does have some numbers stamped on it but I haven't been able to make much sense of them yet. It has some really small numbers/letters on the end of the pommel too but I can hardly make them out. Also it doesn't appear to have a makers mark stamped on the blade, is this unusual? Could it be fake? Any info would be greatly appreciated Cheers
Is the waffenamt number is the tiny eagle stamp thing right on the end of the pommel? What is the difference between that number and the more visible larger number that begins with 'E'?
Your bayonet was used by/issued to an east block country - such as Jugoslavia, Rumania, Czech or Hungarian - for use post WW 2. Sarge
Found out from another forum that it's a Portuguese 1937 contract bayonet that was made in Germany. With the Waffenamt code being a WaA253
