    "KARDEL" is Swedish. (at least)

    "In other words , the word kardel is used to describe a single thread in a multi-wire cable - for example, a flexible wire can be manufactured by twisting seven cardels into a wire, which is then insulated."

    Thank you for your help.

    The above photo, Along with another I have belonged to my father. He served in the Scots Guards 1941/1946. I have a copy of his war service and I know that the scots guards were on a secret mission in Yugoslavia but this is being kept under the hundred year rule and will probably be extended. Clearly these photos were of importance to my dad. I have suspicions of what I think it is and will keep digging. Thank you .

    The flag flying next to the building could be the flag of Yugoslavia circa 1940s. Possibly a border crossing?

    I'd opt for a group of Slavic surnames. Why not ask our member Yougoslavian partisan?

    could be, , I don't speak Serbo Croatian, but the red star is also typically Tito Yougoslavian.
