My name is Patrick, I'm 53 and from N. Georgia. Love the outdoors, sports and anything that will get me away from a "honey-do" list... I'm married, and have two grown boys. Youngest just started college and oldest is a Sr. Airman with the Airforce. My interest in this Forum is of course, WWII but I'm more particularly interested in the 1st Division, 16th Infantry. I've spent several years gathering information on the 3rd Battalion for personal reasons but I've gotten interested in other areas as well. Seems the more I find and read, the more interesting it all becomes. Thanks for allowing me join! Look forward reading and exploring the site!
Hi Patrick. Glad you could join us. Interest in WW2 does seem to expand, doesn't it? I signed up nine years ago for a very specific reason. I'm still here finding information on more topics I never knew existed.
Welcome aboard Patrick, glad to have you! Lots to look at here, I certainly suggest the search function as we in the midst of a restructuring, so topics are a but dispersed. I also suggest you post an inquiry thread with as much detail as you can. Google will lead others with similar interests to your posts.
Thanks Everybody for the Welcome! I appreciate that and am glad to see how active this site is! Tons of topics and I've already gotten lost twice!!! hahahahaha @LRusso216 : Yep! My problem has become that I'll start researching a topic I want and next thing I know, I'm off somewhere MILES away from what I was looking for in another Divison, reading a story or journal from another Campaign, with 8 Browser Windows open!!!! hahahahahahahahaha.... Can't help but get hooked!
Thanks Otto.... I appreciate that advice and I'll take all I can get. Actually, I'm in "hurry up and wait" stage and really have nothing specific I'm looking for except just to browse in general. I've obtained most of what I need to finish... I'm in process of getting some Medals straightened out and also trying to obtain a few other things but for the most part, it's just browse and read, browse and read.... If I locate something it's browse, read and Save!!! hahahaha.... I'm in process of finishing a Documentary on my Uncle who is my Profile Picture. He is actually the reason I got hooked... I found most all of the things I was after but there is one thing in particular I have not found or know if it even exists yet. Seeing how active the board is, you may be right.... think I'll try to see what happens...
Posting that inquiry thread will hopefully serve you well. I'd put a few more keywords pertaining to the incident and the unit, maybe even a soldier's name or two. Then make sure you subscribe to the thread. You be surprised who might come along in a couple months or a few years time. Over the 17 years we'e been active I've seen many inquiries get added to and expanded by someone googling the same things and landing here. Time will be an ally in this regard. And by all means, please post your video here when complete. You've got a ready audience here!
@Half Track Franklin County, PA @Otto : Went back in and edited my story line for my Report Request on that Ambush. Also included the names of all "5" men involved and listed their ASN#'s. If you get a second, would you mind taking a look and see what you think?
That's a lot of detail. The nature of your inquiry will make finding the course of events on that day difficult, but if any other researchers are looking for these terms, they have a good chance of finding your thread.
