Yesterday, my wife kindly suggested that we take a trip to Manchesters Trafford Centre shopping mall. Imagine my 'excitement' at the thought of battling through the swarms of people who only have one thing on their minds....grabbing a bargain in the end of year sales....wonderful!

Anyway, upon leaving one of the malls Chinese restaurants after a spot of lunch I eyed this tile design on the floor with its hidden symbol...

    Interesting to say the least!

I think it was a Buddhist symbol for so long before the Nazis saw it, so I'd give them a pass.

It's not in proportion, so it's more of a swirl than a fylfot.

The symbol is an ancient icon and is still used in a number of faiths including Buddhism and Hinduism.

No, it's not in proportion, nor is it meant to be a Swastika. The tile pattern is a popular Asian design and I've seen it a number of times in other places.

Maybe 'Hidden symbol' was the wrong description to use.

You know you're suffering from WW2 addiction when you start seeing swastikas on the floors of shopping malls....

Clearly a visit to rehab is required. Start by divesting yourself of your militaria. I'll offer my charitable services by taking it off your hands at no cost!

Alan, I think you may be right. Only yesterday I could have sworn I saw Goerings image on the side of an egg.

As for my militaria, parting with it would be like losing a limb, although I suspect the wife would love to see me get rid of it all!

I've never quite understood why she doesn't like a house full of helmets and gas masks :)

It is also a native American symbol.

I was going to say that I saw the pre-WWII insignia for the 45th ID, but that would clearly be wrong.

I once saw a whole bin of red rubber balls in Walmart. I began screaming "REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR, YOU BASTIDS!" until they escorted me out.
