    Here are a few photos I took at the American cemetery that overlooks the Easy Red sector of Omaha Beach.

    Nice pictures of a sacred place. I was there on an overcast windy day which created a serious somber mood many years ago which it probably should. Some years later I was at the US Military Cemetery near Chateau Thiery on a bright clear spring day, lighter mood but then I felt guilty for various reasons.

    Thank you Gaines.

    Don't let the blue sky and sun fool you, it was a bitterly cold day when I visited the cemetery and I was literally chilled to the bone when I got back to my car.

    However, non of that mattered and wouldn't have stopped me going to the cemetery to pay my respects to the fallen.

    Looking at all those crosses makes me sad. Think of all the young lives snuffed out that day. The pictures are good, but they are reminders that war is a harsh mistress.
