How do you become a General or Field Marschall in this forum? Just curious.

It is also to do with the need for moderators, whilst I am relativley new at it, I get the impression that new Mod's are appointed after they are either approached by Otto or volunteer (in both cases this depends on if there is a spare forum). Posts do come into it, essentially it is a question of having enough posts that Otto and co can get an idea of your character and consider your application more carefully, 1000 is a good aiming point though...

What? Do you mean like you have to be good at some things about moderating? Since i'm from Sweden my english isn't as good as most of the people's english here, but i'm trying to understand everything.
I don't really know what you are gonna do when you are a moderator. I have the title 'Moderator' at the game Hearts of Iron's homepage forum, but it's a small page and i have just noticed that i can delete/edit other members posts, create locked topics, sticky topics and announcements.

I mean, what do you really do as a moderator?

I do very little, I have a small forum which hardly ever has any problems (last thing I had to do was make a topic a 'sticky') however, Peppy, Carl and Erich all do a fair bit, wathing threads that risk getting silly, letting people know when they are a little too OT, as well as administrative stuff involving Avatars and discussion of new parts of the forum with Otto, it is a little hard to explain but a lot more goes on behind the scenes than one would realise.

Munken, let's leave this alone as Otto and others have picked who will be on board for the General and HQ staff. We work hard to keep the forums clean of garbage and hopeful that all who post will feel easy about doing so, but we will not put up with foolishness and off topic abuse....

I think those of us who are on the staff here do not need to explain what we do. You can read freely the staements that are made by Otto in Update, updates.....

Also--one doesn't necessarily have to have 1,000 postings in order to "apply" or be "asked" to be a moderator here. Basically--Otto chooses them and he gets requests from people from time-to-time. [IMG]

Munken I don't mean to sound harsh it's just that I cannot tell you any more than what we have already told you in our posts. Some exciting things are in the works for the forums.....

Splendid. Just don't forget to make an announcement a few days before you activate the changes ;) [IMG] .

I couldn't tell you that info as we wouldn't know that ourselves unless Otto informs us.
