Hi I do not know if Eberhard Heder is still alive or not but I have a framed set of west german ribbons with his name on it and would appeciate any info on him. I know he was in ss and was a general and later served in the w german army as an officer. thanks Chuck c21charles@aol.com
Eberhard Heder is still alive although he is reluctant to reply to correspondance due to his age. His highest SS rank was Obersturmbannfuhrer and he is one of the highest ranking Waffen SS Officers left alive together with SS Obersturmbannfuhrer Siegfried Brosow from Das Reich, he was awarded the RK on 18/11/1944 this was for combat actions whilst Fuhrer of SS Pi Btl 5 , 5 SS Panzer Division "Wiking" during the 3rd defensive Battle for Warsaw 10-28/10/1944. He also won the DKiG awarded on 3/3/1943 and was an infantry company commander with Battalion Narva the first SS Unit of Estonian volunteers. I have met him on a number of occasions and he is a very nice, pleasant and helpful man , he was an Oberst in the Bundeswehr. Are you sure that the medal ribbon is definately Heders ?? Just an update re this thread Eichenlaubtrager Dr Wolfgang Rust has passed away earlier this month, Paul
