    Yeah I know, not WW2, not even from the Joyeau Noel era of Christmas in the trenches of 1914, but cool nonetheless. Could be Christmas of 1917 or 18. Looks like the Brit is a freshly taken POW and is sharing a smoke with a former foe.

    Yes it is. An engineering marvel, getting that ship raised. Good thing the Japanese cancelled the 3rd wave. That spared the dry docks and fuel storage.

    I read about the righting of the Oklahoma. I think I remember the author saying the electric motors working the winches were only 1/2 horsepower each.

    You got the 1 and 2 correct...21 5hp motors were used to right the Oklahoma. They were taken from unused Honolulu electric street cars.
