Just joined these forums because I've been trying to research information on my great grandfather but I haven't been so lucky. Just wondering if you guys could help me research into him or point me in the right direction that'd be awesome. His name is Lupe Valderas and he was in 94th Infantry, 301st Division, C Company. I didn't know him well but all I know is that he fought in the European theatre, dropped into France, and made it to Germany in 1945. I wish I asked more about his military service, but seeing that I didn't see him that often I didn't think it was right. I did find a bunch of pictures of him in what seems to be in France, Germany, and possibly Italy. I lost those pictures and the only ones I can find are from the Dallas News from when he passed in 2017. I found them on an obituary so if anyone tries, goodluck. This is a pic from what appears to be in Hilden, Germany May 15, 1945 Lupe Valderas, Dallas veteran who served in the Battle of the Bulge, dies at 93
Welcome to the forum Jared. Try various Google searches using everything you have, 94th infantry, 301st division. 70th Anniversary of 94th Infantry Division Historical Society reunion brings veterans, families together > U.S. Army Reserve > News-Display 94th Infantry Division Historical Society Home Page, a WWII Army division One thing will lead you to another. Others will hopefully chime in and provide some more specific info.
Welcome Aboard! With the information you provided I conclude he served in Company D, 2nd Battalion, 301st Infantry Regiment, 94th Infantry Division. He didn't 'drop' into France as the 94th was a Infantry unit, but laded at Utah beach some 2 and a half months after D-Day helping to form the 9th Army and Fighting at the norther end of US operations, though he served some time in 3rd Army and later in the 15th Army at the end of the war (administration unit for post war occupation) Likely he served only in 'D' Company but if wounded or detached he may have served in another company or sub unit like artillery, transport or such and sent to the Infantry company as a replacement.
Since you stated he was in C Company, that would have been part of the 1st Battalion of the 301st Infantry Regiment. If you can post a copy of his discharge paper, that will allow us to help you better.
