USS Arizona (BB-39) in the East River, New York City, having passed under the Brooklyn Bridge 1916............
There's a great cartoon of a couple standing on the Brooklyn Bridge and watching a battleship go under. The lady says "Should we be seeing this?"
And for some reason there are two pine trees on top of the masts. Hard to see but they are there. Could be because it was close to Christmas.
"[1665X1014] Former Russian coastal defense ship Admiral Seniavin (future IJN Mishima) is shown here 6 days after her surrender in the Battle of Tsushima; she's suffered no direct hits or loss of lives though. June 03, 1905, Naval base of Sasebo."
It was tradition back then to put a "Xmas tree" on top of building when the construction was done, especially in NYC. Arizona was completed a bit over two months before Christmas 1916.
