As former general Patraeus said, the Russian incompetence is mindboggling! It ranges from top to bottom in the Russian Army. They can't do simple basic things like coordinate an all-arms battle. The troops have no idea what they're doing because they don't have a professional NCO corps. The Ukrainians totally disrupted their enemy's communications, which meant that high-ranking generals had to go up front to get an idea of the situation and several of them have been sniped or had their CP bombarded to struck by drones. It's amazing! Putin has got the proverbial tiger by the tail and he can't let go.
CAC, some of the Foreign fighter stuff may be more of a curse than a blessing. I saw a video the other day that was pitiful, there was some guy yelling go, go, go, move, move, move, in the building, in the building,...the other guys with him were just standing around lost. He started to yell at another guy to kick in the door, kick in the door....he kicked it two or three times about as hard as my three year old grand-daughter would have. Then the whole go, go, go...move, move, move yelling started again... still inertia. I think those guys were probably video gamers that had watched too many t.v. shows/movies, they didn't have a clue, were lost and were a hazard to themselves and anyone they were supposed to be supporting. The Ukrainians don't have time to train them. The guy in charge obviously thought all a leader has to do is yell, go, go, go, move, move, move, in an excited voice and everything is peachy. The other four guys were just lost in the sauce, and were just going to stand around daydreaming, till dude kicked in the door. The door kicker had obviously never kicked a door, he better get some more ass and violence behind his kicks or he won't be around very long. I do know at least a dozen guys with legit bonafides that have signed up, but I wonder how many good intentioned, untrained, people are in the mix. One of the guys said, a group with him was mostly 18-19 year olds, that might have shot a weapon once or twice. If the guys in the video did have any military training they were probably aircraft mechanics, truck drivers or admin folks. I was watching it with one of my former corporals that had an Iraq deployment with a conventional Army unit, one as an advisor to the Kurd's with an SF unit, two pumps to Africa with MARSOC and some contractor work; and my older son, with an Iraq deployment and an African deployment as a Marine. We all had a good laugh, then thought damn this ain't gonna end well. Anyway, huge respect to the Ukrainians, saw something a couple days ago that they had destroyed enough equipment to make up four Russian field armies. The Ukrainians are also masters at the insult:
International Community (see the map below) has unanimously condemned the invasion. But, there must be something wrong with the map below! Where is the rest of almost 200 nations?
How much are you condemning things what China is doing? Maybe that explains why people elsewhere don´t give a **** what happens here. There is already some 3-4 millions of Ukraine refugees for some reasons so there must be something wrong about the invaders?? Should they not be the relief force as Putin said they will exterminate the neonazis and drug users that control Ukraine. Not the civilians like they do now? I always thought that precise technology means you hit the target precisely. Some 200 hospitals have been hit by bombs/rockets. Russian technology seems to be missing alot. BTW, The Russian TV was it channel 1 shows footage material of AMERICAN lab technology from Ukraine where they are creating biological and chemical weapons. Do you believe it? Why does not Russia show it to those countries that are on your map or elsewhere only in Russia? Putin said that the way Nato is getting nations joining them is one of the reasons why he must act. Well, it seems attacking Ukraine is doing the opposite reaction if he thought it would make countries refuse joining Nato. I know for instance that Finnish and Swedish governments are not willing to join Nato but the percentages among people have turned upside down. Previously only 1/3 were willing to join Nato and now it is closer to 70% in non-Nato nations that immediate joining is required to get protection from Russia. Somebody has been playing his cards badly. And yes, I know, my English is ***** so you can pass this posting easily.
In the Russia-Ukraine information war, propaganda master Vladimir Putin is being outdone by savvy Volodomyr Zelenskyy - ABC News
Putin's brought on the next Russian transition. Wonder who the new Gorbachev will be ? Kai's English is a lot better than my Finnish or Swedish !!! Mainly because I can't speak either.
The UN vote was 141 For, 5 Against, & 35 abstention. I am more curious as to why your "map" is missing a good many countries that voted For the condemnation...Propaganda much Dr. Gobbles( a third-rate political hack from the three quarter Reich- he gobbled like a turkey.
The latest: Ukranian forces have pushed Russian forces back from Kyiv. The Russians there are digging in, forming defensive positions. The U.S. military thinks that the Russians are going to prioritize the southern flank to try and envelop a bunch of Ukrainian forces.
On he east side of Kiev the Russian troops were pushed back some 30 kilometres. Its now a month since the war begun. Russia has Lost 5 Generals and many other staff officers ranking colonel level. The Ukrainian snipers, I read, were told to shoot staff officers and pilots first.
For Kai , Thought this interesting. Finland Reassesses NATO Entry in Wake of Russia-Ukraine Conflict - Air Force Magazine "In the Winter War of 1939, Joseph Stalin looked at Finland and thought he could roll over the country in a matter of days. Instead, 105 hard-fought and costly winter fighting days between the Soviet Union and Finland passed from December 1939 to March 1940, when Stalin signed a peace deal after heavy losses of personnel and equipment. Finland lost territory but not its independence. Finland was still recovering from multiple wars with the Soviet Union when the North Atlantic Treaty Organization formed in 1949. Its Nordic neighbor Norway became a founding member, but Finland chose instead to learn to live with Russia, with which it shares an 832-mile border. Seven decades later, that may change. Finland has withstood ever-present threats from Russia, investing in its military and building a capable Air Force to protect a dispersed population on territory that spans from the Baltics to the Arctic Sea."
We had to do this instead.... Finno-Soviet Treaty of 1948 - Wikipedia The Agreement of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance of 1948, also known as the YYA Treaty from the Finnish Ystävyys-, yhteistyö- ja avunantosopimus (YYA-sopimus) (Swedish: Vänskaps-, samarbets- och biståndsavtalet (VSB-avtalet)), was the basis for Finno–Soviet relations from 1948 to 1992. It was the main instrument in implementing the Finnish policy called Paasikivi–Kekkonen doctrine. Under the treaty, which was signed on 6 April 1948, the Soviets sought to deter Western or Allied Powers from attacking the Soviet Union through Finnish territory, and the Finns sought to increase Finland's political independence from the Soviet Union. It thus ensured Finland's survival as a liberal democracy in close proximity to strategic Soviet regions, such as the Kola Peninsula and the old capital Leningrad. Under the pact, Finland was obliged to resist armed attacks by "Germany or its allies" (in reality interpreted as the United States and allies)[citation needed] against Finland, or against the Soviet Union through Finland. If necessary, Finland was to ask for Soviet military aid to do so. However the pact in itself did not provide any provisions for the Soviet military to enter Finland and stipulated that all such actions would have to be agreed separately should Finland choose to request aid. Furthermore, the pact did not place any requirements for Finland to act should the Soviet Union be attacked (if the attack would not take place through Finland). The agreement also recognized Finland's desire to remain outside great-power conflicts, allowing the country to adopt a policy of neutrality in the Cold War.
Something I heard many years ago was; Communism in based on World domination. Wether it be in 100 years or 1000 years. The former Soviet Union remains influential in many of the border countries and those it doesn't have seen incursions as Georgia, the Crimea and most recently Ukraine among others. My opinion is Putin is looking far into the Future with expectations of being declared a hero of the Mother Land. The EAEU keeps local governments if not loyal, subservient to Russia, with smaller countries slowly being consumed piece by piece. I can't see the current situation benefiting Putin and considering the typical communist over-boasting to their capabilities ( North Korea and the former USSR ) now seems as good a time as any to call his bluff. Fear of reprisal gives weaker Nations strength as North Korea has used to their advantage for decades. Stay safe and strong !
Just watched an hour on Youtube of videos where the Ukrainians ambush convoys, shoot Javelins against tanks and hunt Russian soldiers running away from their ambushed vehicles. The Ukrainians call this 'Safari'. The Soviet doctrine definitely does not work but then again with Javelins and using drones to ambush convoys a miracle seems to have happened.
The seventh General? The General in charge of attacking Mariupol is named dead but confirmation is missing. Looks like China also has cancelled its gas Business with Russia. Did they just check how the EU and NATO co-operated in case of Russian invasion and now pull all deals with Russia off?? Guess who pays the dinner..
Russia says the first phase of attack is over. Good for You. More Generals and tank crews will be needed. To be honest start talking about peace. Peace, peace, peace. Mr Putin if necessary go and join the frontline troops yourself. Do not kill the innocent youngsters. Peace baby please. Peace. Peace.
