Here's a movie I saw...that is probably still a long ways off but sounds interesting...
Newly A-Listed actor Russell Crowe seems to have an affinity for
historical period pieces. Set during World War II, Giants will star Crowe as a German officer who disobeyed a command to shoot a group of children, and instead, leads them on a flight for freedom to Switzerland. Director John Frankenheimer (The Manchurian Candidate, Reindeer Games) is attach to direct from a script by Dan Gordon.

He disobeyed orders to shoot children??? As a German, he must have got himself in serious trouble if he missed his quota [IMG]

i don't think so...Russel Crowe was the only main person i could find...it's possible other stars could be added to the roster...for the movie is so new...but i doubt it...seems like lots of movies frequently don't go over one star LOL.

I'm sure that you were just joking but, jeez.. it's not a very funny thing to joke about.. you can look on both sides.. the innocent victims getting killed by the Nazis, or the fact that every German was not a nazi, therefore, you don't have to say that they were all bad. I dunno.. i'm rambling. bleh

i agree, it wasn't uncommon for the Germans to shoot innocent people, I mean the Nzi cause did kill over 6,000,000 Jews alone. But I don't think that comment was made to be offensive to anyone.

I thought Crowe was great in Gladiator and The Insider, this movie sounds great if it is going to be in production.

Where did you find this information? Ive been wishing for the day where a Hollywood movie would depict the German soldiers as real people and not just mindless automatons and would like to read/hear more about it.

LOL well i got it from a unique source. I play this game called "HSX"
Hollywood Stock Exchange . It basically works like the new york stock exchange...prices adjust according to how well movies do in th box office...and if their not out yet it reflexs how many people are buying it( if alot of people buy it it will go up...when people sell the price lowers) ANYWAYS
if you go to www.hsx.com click on the link for "movies" then in the box for making a search (on the left of the page) type in "giants"
Some links should come up for it. nothin much to do with WW2 with this site BUT thats where i found it.
I tried to find other sites on the net for the movie but couldn't find anything. But anyway there ya go thats where i got my info ;)

message for Otto: i was gunna send this as a private message since this has nothing to do with WW2...but i figured he would never know he had a private message...maybe there should be some sort of e-mail prompt or something saying that a private message was posted?

Ron, there is an email prompt, but A.Greg would have to have it turned on for him to get it. Anyways, no problem with the off-topic posts, I have no problem anyone posting a few off topic messages in the forums here, but when the whole thread is off-WW2-topic, such as "can lasers be weapons", then it just gets moved to the free fire area.

oh ok thats great. Why does he need it to be turned on? Is it only for moderators? Or is it just because you havn't finished that part of updating yet?

It's just an option everyone has in their profile, so one knows to "check their messages" when they get an email. However, the option to turn it off is there because if you start to get lots of private messages, you will be delued with email, the default is that it is on, but everyone can change their profile to off. Moderators and members are treated the same with these messages.
