Pretty interesting piece. It’s a portrait of a U.S. Serviceman. Painted at the bottom reads “Hicks- England 1943”. It’s on paper and seems to be glued onto card stock. I’ve read that it was common for Servicemen to have these made by artists while in England, often to have sent back to family.
Nice. My father had a portrait done by a German POW. As I recall it was quite good. Unfortunately, I don't know what happened to it. My niece might have it, but I'm not sure.
Just got these today. Pencil drawings of my father and mother (from a picture) made by a POW. Spectacular.
Words can't describe the tear in my eye ! Those two drawing are worth GOLD ! I'm envious and only wish the best my friend.
Thanks, everyone. I'm going to try printing these and mounting them. I haven't been able to find anything on the artist, but at this point he would be around 100 years old. Any help would be appreciated.
