Children of the Neon Bamboo. While the main thrust of my marketing campaign focuses on the nostalgia of the 1990 plot, the sub-plot that makes the big plot possible takes part in the Philippines (the 11th Airborne in Luzon) and the post-war occupation of Japan. I did a lot of reading and research to the get the particulars correct; maybe you'll appreciate it. Thank you for your consideration! Children of the Neon Bamboo – Northstar Studios (northstar-studios.com) Wryly surreal— Funny and serious at the same time, a Gen-Xer stumbles through his retelling of the wild, summer adventure of 1990 when in the pursuit of the new Sega Genesis he and a friend entangle themselves in a cross-country fight over a long-lost ancient samurai sword, connecting memorable characters from across history with the aesthetics of the era. Refugees, ninjas, nerds, musicians, soldiers, Dungeon Masters, Karate instructors, and beauticians come together for a curious blend of 80s Japanese influenced pop culture and Mid-American grunge. Mountain Dew Moby Dick, literary vaporwave, high-topped Hunter S. Thompson, Taco Bell Tom Sawyer.

Hey, I’ve had an alternate version of Children of the Neon Bamboo, “Retro Cream”, done at the local (Oklahoma City) press, BrickandMortar, who also did the interior design. Kating Egepe of Indonesia drew the cover art. Major differences from the Key Largo Sunset edition include the size (294 pages), the pictures being embedded in the text (not collected in the middle) type of paper used for the pages, and cover material. Check it out on the website! It really feels high quality; and early reviews concur. It would look great on a shelf or as a Christmas present. Also, if anyone is interested in publishing/printing, get with me about my experiences. Children of the Neon Bamboo (graphic cream) – Northstar Studios (northstar-studios.com)
