I know it sounds like a stupid question to ask but, Does the Finnish military still use any form of the Swastika as a symbol on any military equipment--like Tanks and Aircraft?

In my opinion and not based on any fact or anything--I can almost bet that they dont use any form of it--but figured I had better ask. [IMG]

    - No.

It is however still visible in some medals or decorations.

Thank you Sami, Kai and Hurricane--for the answers and pics and website. I guess that maybe a link to the past is kept open--since the Finns did not abuse the symbol as did Germany?

In studying the pic of this unit flag--it is a nice looking flag--I do not see anything to be offended by in its use--not that I like Swastikas but--personally im not offended by it being used--I think it should be retained in this case only--as a direct reminder and memory of the past.

The Swaz is not "mobile" so it cant be distorted and referred to Hitler. What gets me though is, when the Finnish Military did use the Swaz symbol on tanks and aircraft in ww2--was it not facing the correct way? meaning the other direction?

The upper "spike" is pointing to the right.
    See eg. http://www.sci.fi/~ambush/faf/color.html
