    Hi, Everyone.

This is my first post, so I thought it fitting to be here. You can guess my name and my lack of creativity by my username.

I have always been interested in anything Military, but not able to join due to medical limitations. However, I was able to be a volunteer firefighter for a number of years instead. Not the same, I know, but still able to be of service.

First and foremost, I have been a stamp dealer since 2001 and my site can be found here, for those interested. I had just started collecting military and firefighting medals recently. For military, I collect a wide range right now, unsure if I want to specialize in any area in particular. For WWII, I have the usual Defence, War and Volunteer. I have other medals as well, from WWI, Fire Long Service and probably my favorites, that are still "in the mail", a Canadian Memorial Cross and an Edward VII British Volunteer Officer's Decoration medal in the Royal Mint case. I must say that my recent medal collecting has turned into an obsession.

I am on this site as well to help research a book that I am writing for family (not to be published) about my Great Uncle who was in the RCAF in WWII. His bomber went missing over the Channel after returning from a bombing raid.

When I see firefighters in a store or on the street I salute them. They can tell from my hat, at minimum, that I was military and they sometimes say "No, thank YOU!" I reply "Hey, you guys hang it out there every time you go to work. I wasn't under nearly that kind of pressure most of the time." Then I salute them.

Volunteer firefighters count in that too. :salute:

    Howdy Steve,

Yeah, gotta agree with you on the unoriginal screen name you chose.

I was a volunteer FF years ago when it was more fitting for my age, but I hung up my turnouts about 11 years ago.

Welcome and hope your manuscript goes well.
