Hi all, Scott here. I'm 60, grew up in Philly and now in Phoenix. I'm a civil war buff and just starting to gain interest in WW2. I've started reading Ian Toll's series on the Pacific theater. My goal is to learn more about the different battles and strategies/tactics the different commanders used. Please bear with me and my questions as I read through all of these posts. Thanks for your time! Scott
Welcome, Scott. You can't go wrong reading Toll. Questions are our lifeblood. Ask away. We'll do our best to answer or direct you to sources that will help. For a closer look, try some first person looks like Helmet for my Pillow. There are many others.
Cheers and welcome Scotty, glad to have you! Dive in with your questions, and feel free to poke around as well. There are lots of older thread with interesting discussions to uncover.
Welcome Scott from Coloradostan. I did a lot of research into the Late Unpleasantry myself and even went to Glorietta (Pecos National Historic Park that manages part of the battlefield, the ruins and some Kivas) . The historical documentary, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly alludes to that failed campaign and even gave the reason why the Confederates lost. "Sibley in the white hat, he looks dead." Never put a zombie in charge of your campaign. However, I never got south to Val Verde (charge of the Confederate lancers) or to Picacho Pass (furthest western skirmish). Hopefully they have a Civil War Round Table to satiate your interest. T.A. Gardner - is it Phoenician like that famous seafaring group or Phoenixian? BTW, the manhole covers there looks like the Ruger Eagle. I've used the Ben Avery Range several times.
Hey buddy! Good to meet you. Absolutely, it'd be fun to chat about the war and get some insight on things
