@RichTO90 you’re awesome! Thanks for the quick and thorough explanation. I am currently listening to a wonderful book called “No Bullet Got Me Yet” which is about a chaplains exploits in WWII and Korea. The book has never clearly explained what unit he was assigned to and I was making assumptions, so I figured I would ask the smart folks here.

found some purple heart orders for the guys that were wounded. 2 out of the 4 I found. The other 2 files were too large to upload.

I could really use some help with this. Where is the Aircraft maintenance folks? I see the pilots, but not any maintenance unless it was done by the motor pool guys or they flew planes not assigned to the Bn.(?) was there a MTOE update later? I have not seen anything hinting to it.

As the old saying goes, perseverance is essential in success. I found some information in regards to the authorization of the planes, pilots and mechanics.

TO&E 6-56 (with 4 revisions during the war)
2ea Liaison A/C authorized HHB Ops and FDC platoon

2ea 1LT Liaison Pilots assigned to HHB

2ea Tech 5 Aircraft Mechanics assigned to Maintenance section HHB

I also found a few other places to search for info while relooking World War 2 Order of Battle book by Shelby Stanton

Archivist of the US Army (thought that was the same place as the Chief of Military History but I guess I was wrong)

    Army Organizational History Branch

Historical Reference Branch of the CMH

And the Modern Military Field Branch

    Let’s hope I find something.

This is what my untrained, uneducated and part time research has come up with so far. This info has come from a myriad of places such as official AARs, personal memoirs, and a ton of random snippets I found while searching for something else. I am sure there are mistakes and things that I misinterpreted and if you see any of these, please let me know and understand that they were not on purpose.

I have had the good fortune for Phil Noble to reach out and share some newsletters his family has saved over the years. These were newsletters dated from 1973-74. Talks about the reunions, etc.. Phil is one of the few folks I had the good luck to cross paths with and between the 2 of us shared findings about the battalion. He focuses mostly on A Btry but has some really cool stuff.
I tried to post the newsletters here, but the .pdf format I have them in doesn’t work. I will see what I can do to get them posted here.
    Thanks Phil!!

I think I got it figured out. Sorry if it doesn't come out as good as I think it will.
