Yeah, i get that it is a business. They (UFC) seem really fishy/stinky compared to Bellator. Bellator could be evil too, just haven't heard any rumors about them. There is a good one coming Aug 26. Henderson/ Freire.
2.25 hr bellator card. Good thing i recorded it. ..could be distilled down to about 20 minutes of solid action. A whole lot of talking and commercials. There was 1 great match. They went full at it for 15 minutes. Very entertaining. There were some spectacular knockouts, which meant there was a lot of down time. The Henderson match was ...weird. ufc weird.
Timing is always tough when fights might last anywhere between 10 seconds and 29 minutes. It always best practice to tape and watch after the fact for most MMA events. Bellator is doing better with some of their recent signings like Rory McDonald, and Benson Henderson. Maybe they will crack the UFC monopoly?
Yeah, heard that Rory was at Bellator now. Would have liked to have been a fly on the wall during discussions with the ufc. It's hard to find recent/good ufc matches on utube. They are so stingy with what they release. ...if bellator can sign the disgruntled ufc guys- yeah, bellator could take the belt.
Bellator is backed by Viacom. If they are not a trillion dollar (with a "t") company, they are very close to it. They have the funds to compete effectively against the UFC by signing big names like Rory MacDonald. Bellator President Scott Coker is very competent and universally liked by fighters. Not something the current UFC President can say. The UFC/Reebock deal is another thing that infuriates fighters. The competition will do the sport well.
The Bellator Congo/Johnson fight was horrible. Johnson has man boobs, it seemed like the fix was in. Boring fight. Noticed they signed Sonnen too. ..What is going on over there- they are trying to sound like professional wrestling now. A lot of reality show trash talking by Sonnen- "..a simple question by a simple man" etc etc...it's like the ufc and bellator are testing the waters on how fans react to scripted (but real hits) material...hope they don't degenerate to pro wrestling level. Also wondered- are refs allowed to work for different leagues? ...Could big john do a bellator fight one week, then do a ufc event?...Guessing ufc/ bella would want to employ their own, like the NFL etc. Who pays the ref?

Rousey was never a great fighter. She had 1 move (arm bar). The sport was so new, there were no other women who had trained in MMA- only judo or other specific techniques...When confronted with a kick boxer (Holmes) - she lost, when confronted with a striker (Nunes)- she lost. Her general attitude and character/personality was bitchy compared to other women fighters... Never was a fan of hers, still not a fan of 90% of womens fights...the UFC should create a womens only league. By including womens fights in the big ticket- it waters down the product. Boring would be the best description of watching women fight (mostly).
how about that diego sanchez? he and his "lover" ( cowboy said it ), are on fire. hearing his new guy requested all diegos medical records for last 13 years before consenting to the cowboy fight, which caused ufc lawyers to cancel the nightmare. heard they paid diego for the fight he never fought. now there is video of the batshit crazy manager kicking /punching an upside down diego as part of his training. watch cowboys comments...
