OMAHA BEACH TODAY: THE HISTORY OF D-DAY AND AFTER

In 2019, I had the privilege of visiting Normandy and exploring its renowned historical D-Day landmarks. As part of my ongoing series about Operation Overlord, I'm inviting you to delve into the rich and tragic history of Omaha Beach. In continuation of the series of articles devoted to Overlord, I invite you to dive into the meticulously detailed history of the Omaha Beach sector. From the Roman Empire to William the Conqueror, and from Operations Curlew and Aquatint in 1942 to the full-scale Allied landings on June 6, 1944. From the battle for the shore on D-Day to the post-war commemoration, and finally to our day and the modern look of what is known as Omaha Beach. It took me three months to research and write this 10,000-word volume article with 100+ archival photos accompanied by modern ones from my trip to Northern France.

I would heartfully appreciate your feedback on the article: comments, questions, corrections, suggestions. In memory of all heroes.

Grenadier-Regiment 736 was not "Eastern". Those former Soviets were part of Ost-Batallion 441.
Only II./Grenidier-Regiment 916 was at OMAHA, headquartered at Formigny in division reserve.

I'll add more as I can.

Your description of the deployment of 352. Infanterie-Division is incorrect.
