I watched Battle of Britain a few nights ago. It was a good film and kept my attention well past midnight. Great cast with Michael Caine and many others. Also, I continue to rewatch episodes of Combat! It is still the finest WWII television series that I have seen. Next up is Danger UXB, which originally appeared on Masterpiece Theater in 1979, I think.
None But The Brave is a very good movie. This is the first Pacific themed war movie, that I saw that had the Japanese Soldiers shown as human beings instead of all being Saki-soaked drunken mindless zealots. Oh and, all of them did NOT wear Coke-bottle glasses. The only thing I could not stand about this movie, was the guy who played the US Marine Lt. Frank Sinatra as the Alkie Dr, was a hoot.
As soon as I read your comment, it all came rushing back.... yeah, I remember that obnoxious little twit. That's ONE jarhead that needs to go back in the Jar! He's like the mail guy in, what movie was it........ 'The Great Escape"? [EDIT: It wasn't 'The Great Escape'.... it was "Stalag 17'.... I get my WW2 POW movies confused!] AT EASE!!! AT EASE!!! Geeze..... stuff a sock in it! -whatever -Lou
tonight we have lined up the film called. the story of Dr. wassell . long time no see lazy night for krieg....:vegetate:
Hi Lou, his name is at the tip of my tongue but, I still can't think of it. I think he also played John Waynes "son" in In Harms Way--I think??
Ahh, another Gary Cooper fan!! Coops also one of my all-time favorites. It's been many years since I last saw this movie but remember it was a very good one. Also, this movie is alot alike: "Yellow Jack" which start Robert Montgomery. This one I think takes place somewhere near the Panama Canal-if I recall correctly? Forgot to mention, tonights viewing will be the Pilot episode for the Incredible Hulk, TV series w/ Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno.
Well, I just finished watching a 2 disc set my sister bought me for X-mas. It's called Iwo Jima : 36 Days of Hell, The True Story. I don't know where she got it, but it's very informative and contains a great deal of color images from the campaign (and some graphic and disturbing images also, so if you manage to find a copy, it's not for kids!). Before that it was The Century of Warfare boxed set, very good, all except the narrator being rather boring.
are whats on tonight for krieg . the deep six . with allan ladd will do just fine... with a fue. best krieg
Last night, scrolling through the channels, I caught the last half of "Raid on Rommel." A knock-off of Rock Hudson's "Tobruk". Only watched it as Richard Burton was in it. They even used some of the same footage as the original. Not sure why they even made this movie, it was just as corny and the Germans talked German. You couldn't understand what was being said.
Your last sentence caught my eye. That's one of the things that really irritated me when I watched WWII films as a kid. So when I went to college, I made sure that German was one of the foreign language courses I took.
ar whats on tonight lets see.. for those i loved .. with .michael york. that will do fine cheers krieg
I watched this as well. I think I swa it on showtime? The funniest part was when the Italian woman yelled at the German to speak in English
what on tonight for krieg .. maybe.. the 442nd. duty honor and loyalty. had to blow the dust of this one a clean up on the way dust on the films best krieg
So far tonight I have watched the documentaries, "Desert Rats", Victoria Cross Heroes, Weapons of ww2 (focusing on infantry support weapons), and Hero Ships. I don't think that I ahve watched that many in one go before. Suprisingly they were not to bad, they were realistic and factual although I did notice that they used some frames from ww2 movies to display the battles they were talking about.
wow watching this a second time the japanese-american soldiers done a great job very interesting well done best krieg
Not only that but, can play the Harmonica (true fact ;-)) Forgot to mention that I watched Jeffrey Hunter in: Hell To Eternity. A most excellent film about Guy Gabaldon. Tonight will be: Merrills Marauders with: Jeff Chandler, Claude Akins, Andrew Duggan and Ty HArdin. Another great film. Tomorrow will be the start of season 4 of Daniel Boone.
whats on tonight for krieg .. might give the war a miss tonight and have some .duke. yep that sounds good ( hondo ) looks good havent seen this one .. cheers mark
Krieg, Hondo is a great choice and is one of my all-time most favorite Westerns. It has a great cast, and including Duke, it has: James Arness, Ward Bond (Army Scout: Buffalo Baker), Paul Fix (Cavalry Major) Geraldine Page (Mrs. Lowe) and Michael Pate as Apache Indian Chief: Vittorio. Just watched an episode on Disc one of season Nr 4 of: Daniel Boone. This one had Neville Brand as it's guest star. This was an excellent episode.
