I didn't know Netflix had a cable TV system? If that's the case-ill look inot this. I do have a monthly subscription service with them or DD retals.I think it's around $16.00 per month and I get three DvDs at a time. I just finished a 2 disc 4 episode set of a Documentary about the Road to Stalingrad and the Road to Berlin. Not bad-with lots of footage I have never seen before but-the guy who wrote the narrators script-made many mistakes n things-such as calling General Friedrich Paulus (of 6th Army Stalingrad disaster fame" had him called: von Paulus. Not a nitpick here but-Paulus was NOT a "von" which is a mistake that authors used to ake all the time. Just last night-watched Cross of Iron again.
No, it's not a cable system, it's a different level of DVDs allowed per month. I am on the 4-at-a-time for $20.00 a month. You can pay something like $45.00 a month and get umlimited DVDs in possession anytime. Go to netflix.com and reasearch the particulars of the different levels of membership. Keep your que filled and you will never have time to watch network TV. Heck, you'd have to break free just to post here like that.
Thanks, I will check into that ;-)) Also, I noticed that I have the option of watching some of my choices on the computer-which I think I will start doing. My next choices coming in are still more documantaries about the Eastern Front ;-D
Newest viewing: Octopussy-with the BETTER James Bond (Roger Moore) :-D Gee, ill know if this gets read if I see any Sean Connery fans posting in here
How can Connery not be the best Bond? Actually I didn't quite enjoy Octopussy as much as I did many of the others. My Favorite has to be Man With the Golden Gun which did star Moore, but overall I think Connery did a better job with the role. Last night I watched Midway followed by The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Not the crap version from 05 but the exellent 81 BBC episodes staring Simon Jones
I saw it when it first came out with my dad, great film. I was quite engrossed in their determination, I truly wanted them to succeed. Of course, as we all know, they did not but that's besides the point. My father enjoyed it as well, he's a bigger history buff than myself. I think I'm going to order it off Amazon and give it to him as a Father's Day gift since I'm terrible at choosing something he likes.
Yes, i've seen it. Inspite of tommy boy starring as the Colonel Count-the movie was VERY well made and with a lot of good "taste" too. The Militaria collector part of me also liked most of the detail they had for the uniforms, equipment and such. The actors who played certain parts-REALLY looked like their real-life counterparts. The movie was VERY well cast. For "Stalingrad" movie fans-Thomas Kretschmann was also in this movie. Anyway, in short-watch the movie and I know you will enjoy it. IF interested in getting the DvD-get the one for $24.99 from Wal-Mart-which has lots of extras and a 2nd disc just for portable players.
Heh heh, glad to see my Moore over Connery post did create some reaction ;-)) Tell you the truth-I cannot pick one over the other-meaning Moore over Connery as I like them both equally as James Bond. One thing that Moore has over Connery-is he delivers a slighly more-comedic touch to his portrayal of everyones favorite Spy. I have liked all the Bonds ending (for now) with Pierce Brosnan-whom when he was chpsen to be Bond-I thought would make a lousy Bond. However, on watching his Bond films, I came to think he was a very good Bond-and just under the Moore/Connery class ;-)) I like Timothy Dalton, and he did do pretty good as Bond in his two outings-but he still left something to be desired. I have not seen the new guy as Bond---yet-so I can't comment on him. The Man With he Golden Gun and From Russia With Love-each one with Moore and Connery - respectively-were my first two Bond films I got on DvD.
Before I forget, last night at WALMART-I did see a great "deal" of sorts concerning their DvD offerings. They had a 4 original Star Trek episode DvD for sale @ $9 bucks. I picked it up since I have yet to break down and get the three seasons boxed sets yet. Anyway, this one has: "City on the Edge of Forever, The Trouble With Tribbles, Amok Time and another episode whose title escapes me at this time.
I agree with your review but as long as we're talking about good prices for Valkyrie, I would recommend Amazon's price for the Blu-Ray version. It's actually $24.99 as well, but there's such a difference in quality. Makes a difference on the home theater system for sure !
Hi Patches and many thanks. Im not supporting Blue Ray since I don't have the money to spare-unfortunately. I also noticed th Star Trek original series is now on blue-Ray. Oh the fourth episode on that ST dvd is Balance of Te rror. SO this dvd has Klingons, Romulans and other Vulcans.
Good find, Carl. Those are some of my favorite episodes of a great series. When I first got married (nearly 40 years ago), my wife and I would put on our small 12" TV at dinner time and watch the reruns of the original series. Every once in a while, one of the cable channels runs a Star Trek marathon. I always manage to catch a few of my favorites. PS, Connery first, followed closely by Moore.
Hi Lou, if you wish I could send you a copy of that DvD ;-)) Just let me know and ill gladly get it when I go to pick up my new desk. I also grew up with the show but only saw it as reruns on weekday afternoons starting in the early 1970s. It used to be on with other great shows like Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show, Gilligans Island, McHales Navy, Bewitched, The munsters, Leave it to Beaver, The Addams Family, and though I no longer can stand watching these-I loved the shows a s a kid: shows like: The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, and others. OPS, I absolutely hated watching Love America Style-because my Sister forced us to watch it on pain of getting our behinds whupped ;-D
Tonight, it's SILENT WINGS:American Glider Pilots of World War II.... ..... which seemed appropriate for the night before D-Day. -whatever -Lou
I watched "Legally Blonde" last night and "The Man in the Moon" a couple of nights ago....I am on a Reese Witherspoon thing right now, so I don't want to hear it....
Thanks for the offer, Carl, but I have those episodes already. Always good watching them. I also have the whole set of the original Twilight Zone shows with Rod Serling. I think it's 28 DVDs, so I'm slowly making my way through them.
