Hi Branko, thanks fro the Kellys Heroes pics. Im currently looking for some original material from that movie to collect as I collect images. Idf you get a chance? please loot in the War Movies stills of all periods theread here. You might see a few things you like.

Cought the TCM premier of Dirty Harry-last night. Im surprised they left in the language but I guess TCM is all about keeping things as they were originally peresented.

Hi Richard, can't get no better than those. Now unless you want to do a mini-Western marathon of Dukes filme-then id highly suggest: Fort Apache, Rio Grande, Stagecoach, Allegheny Uprising, Hondo, El Dorado, The Alamo, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Rio Bravo, The Searchers and Big Jake.

WM in my area has at least 15 of Dukes movies available. Trouble is is that I have them all ;-))

Hi Branko, thank you very much for the additional pics for Kellys Heroes. This movie is one of my alltime most favorite and I love the theme song "Burning Briges" by" The Mike Curb Congregation. Incidently, that song is one of the ring tones on my cell phone.

I read the laughable film critic: leonard maltins commentary on Kellys Heroes. He gives it a 2 1/2 stars out of 4 stars and says he finds it unconvincing that there is a Hippy ank Commander-ala-Donald Sutherland as Oddball. I say, who gives a damn? I mean, this is onf of if not THE best role that he ever had.

Clint's 80 years old? Wow. He really is a living Hollywood icon.

And I finally got the chance to watch Tobruk in full. Borrowed an old VHS tape and machine. It took a bit of work to get the gunk off the tape but it was off, it was okay.

I also saw King Rat a few days ago on cable. It wasn't an POW escape film but it certainly belongs in anyone's list of WWII POW movies I think.

Hi Fal, he sure is. His Bday was May 31st.

I kinda like King Rat-hated it the first time I saw it but the last time-about 6 months or so ago-I watched it w different opinion in mind and liked it. Sir John Mills made it more watchable.

I watched the last episode of "The Pacific" last night on HBO On Demand. It was by far the best episode in my opinion, and it closed the series perfectly.

At first I thought that the scene when John Basilone's wife goes to meet his family was going to be bad, with the less than warm reception she got at the door, but it picked up and got better.

The first time I saw Kelly's Heroes I was a teenager and fell in love with it. I waited for years to find that song, "Burning Bridges", and it's one of my all time favorites. And I agree, Leonard Maltin doesn't know squat about a good movie. Oddball made that movie! If Oddball saw Maltin's review, his response would be: "Why don't you knock if off with them negative waves!"

Oh, as for me, I've been watching nothing but WW2 documentaries, with a break on Tuesday's for "Justifed".

Hi A/ I wish it were but nope. It was some movie dealing with the Crimean War-as was Charge of the.... was, but it wasnt that one but one that had Leon Askin (of General Burkhalter/Hogans Heroes, fame) as a General in the Imperial Russian Army. Whatever movie it was? it was a pretty darn good one for one I have never sen nor heard of before.

Hi A/B, you can say that again. Maltin wouldnt know his asphole from a hole in the ground. I can cite hundreds if not thousands of films he disses with bad grades and snide comments that should rate (by his rates) at least a 3-4 star rating. He cant possibly diss movies like: The Searchers-as it is a 4 star movie or a 10/10, and others like it. I did notice it must be VERY painful for him to actually praise greats like: John Wayne and Charlton Heston.

Maltin is like a Vienna Wiener, VERY small in size

PS, I gave you 35 reps for thanks for this post ;-))

The ONLY thing I like about maltins book is that its a great list for some 13,000-odd movies.

Greatest Tank Battles(Season 2): Battle of the Bulge - SS Panzer Attack

Just found out that this new season GTB will feature a two-part episode about the battle at Kursk. One episode will be about the battle in the northern part of the salient, the other about the southern half (including Prokhorovka).

I just watched the new movie on Baron von Richthoffen yesterday, I was impressed with the "dog-fighting" CG and a great number of the beautiful old cars, and aircraft they did find for the shoot. Some scenes a bit less than valid, i.e. German pilots glacing over at their wing-man with meaninful looks as if they know this is a "suicide" mission, and not keeping their heads on a swivel checking their "six". Could have done without the 'love story" part, but I suppose that is needed for box-office.

But overall I'd give it a nine out of ten, just for the battle scenes and other "backgound". Entertaining.

Just finished watching for the first time, The Bunker starring Anthony Hopkins as Hitler in his final days over on YouTube, its in 14 parts. Not bad as they go, clearly a American production of the 1980's.

    Part one
YouTube - The Bunker Anthony Hopkins pt 1

You can click on the next episode when it ends.

Its been umteen years since I last saw it and found it wasnt half bad at all ;-)) I HOPE they continue to release Reagans movies to DvD and to carry them at WM. I got this for $6 bucks.
