Hi Fal/ you would be hard-pressed to find a lousy performance from Bogie ;-)) Started Season 1 of: Tour of Duty.
Hey Carl, would that be this Tour Of Duty? im sure we have spoke about this before Tour of Duty Info Home Page
Hi Mate-the one and the same. Are you interested in getting it? if so? let me know and I can try to get you a copy of season one at WM while they still sell it. Its only $14 I think? Take care mate--Carl. As this month if Gregory Peck month on TCM, I watched a few of his Westerns last night incluging: MacKennas Gold-which is chok full of stars.
Good document with modern footage of the places. They actually found also Almásy´s expedition´s hiding place, with old tires and gasoline tanks there. Very interesting. --------- Hitler's Explorers (Gipfelstürmer und Wüstenfüchse) 1 x 50 min. year(s) of production: 2009 director: Tom Matzek producer: ORF Mountain climbers, jungle explorers and desert foxes – many of them ended up in the claws of the Nazi Party, the SS or the Wehrmacht because of their careers, scientific curiosity or their love of travel. Were these adventurers aware of the consequences of this association or were they simply interested in pursuing their own interests regardless of the price? That’s the question this documentary seeks to answer by retelling the stories of explorers like Heinrich Harrer and “English Patient” László Almásy, using spectacular pictures and footage from places like India, Egypt and Peru.
Saw soem of The Winter War-on utube last night. Thats a movie thats definately going to enter my collection this year.
Been awhile since I last saw Von Ryans, guess ill have to do a PoW Escape movie Marathon sometime soon. Still watching Tour of Duty season 1.
Watched Nuremberg today (I had bought the DVD a few days ago for a rock-bottom price). Good re-telling of the trial, although the romantic angle between the characters played by Alec Baldwin and Jill Hennessy bugged the hell out of me.
I cant stand alec baldwin but, I thought that the movie was pretty good when I last saw it-about 10 years or so ago. The actor who played the Jewish/American officer, I thought was excellent in his role. On TCM right NOW is: Never So Few, mit: Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra, Charles Bronson, Dean Jones, Whit Bissell, Brian Donlevy, George Takai (as a Kachin) and Gina Lollobrigida. Man that gal was sssssssssssstt--HOT.
Speaking of Vic Morow, im about to watch him in a Western called: A Man Called Sledge with James Garner.
Watched an oldie but goodie earlier, called: Halls Of Montezuma. Thats a great old fashoined War movie which was also directed by a war movies master director by the name of Lewis Milestone. This movie starred greats like: Richards: Widmark, Boone & Hylton, Bert Freed, Robert Wagner, Karl Malden, Walter (Jack) Palance, Neville Brand, Jack Webb, Skip Homeier and Reginald Gardner. You almost cannot get better than this movie ;-)) I also love the rendition of the Marine Corps Hymn, that they used. A person missing from this movie that I always thought and wished who might have been in it is Claude Akins.
richard buton and anton diffring, being the main star, names. also Irene Papas, she of the guns of navarone...plenty of action, hand to hand, and battles too..worth seeing..I'm amazed why burton found it necessary? to go into foreign made movies..? work! money! I suppose..
