Have just watched it this last weekend. It's a special film since my mother claims that Tom Selleck is my father… (She used to say whilst she was pregnant: "if the kid isn't blonde and gets dark hair and big eyes, his father will be Tom Selleck".) And here I am! I think it's the perfect film for us, war buffs, since I feel many WWII-neophites simply won't understand it. Tom Selleck (though much taller and stronger) does a very good characterisation of Eisenhower, the manners and expressions being very similar. The film deals quite well with Ike's simplicity as a man with him being the perfect man for the C.-in-C. rôle.
I saw it when it first came out! I have always liked Tom Selleck. I thought he did a great job of playing Ike!
Saw it and ok, I suppose it gives the credit Ike deserves but not much money spent in the film making. ( or have I forgotten/missed something...?) [ 11. October 2005, 10:44 AM: Message edited by: Kai-Petri ]
I'm with PzJgr on this one. I wasnt sure if Selleck could pull it off but now I have read positive comments I think I'll take a look.
