Here are some new WWII movies that will be coming out.

    The Great Raid:

Set in the Philippines in 1945, The Great Raid tells the true story of the 6th Ranger Battalion, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Mucci who undertake a daring rescue mission against all odds. Traveling thirty miles behind enemy lines, the 6th Ranger Battalion aims to liberate over 500 American prisoners-of-war from the notorious Cabanatuan Japanese POW camp in the most audacious rescue ever.

Most likely to be in theaters December 2nd of this year.

Fan Site Has some nice screen shots from the movie.

    --------------------------

    The Few:

Tom Cruise stars in the true-life story of American pilot Billy Fiske, who ignored his country's neutrality rules in the early days of WWII and flew Hurricanes against the Germans.

This is said to be released sometime in 2006.

    --------------------------

    The Pacific War:

A 10-part mini-series from the creators of "Band of Brothers" telling stories of America's battle with the Japanese in the Pacific during World War II.

This is also said to be released sometime in 2006.

    Flags of our Fathers:

A film about the World War Two Battle of Iwo Jima. Partly based on the book Flags of Our Fathers, published in 2000 by a man who only discovered his father was one of the six soldiers after he died in 1994.

This is yet another film said to be released sometime in 2006.

    Enjoy! :D

'The Few' may be delayed further than 2006. There's no news as yet of filming or of any flying arrangements, locations etc having been made.

By the time it appears, Tom Cruise ( born 1962 ) is really going to be alittle long in the tooth to play Billy Fiske, who died aged 29.....

And I'm even older ( ) but I don't think that either of us are suddenly going to have to leap into a Hurricane and take on JG26..... ;)

We know. We've heard how young pilots during the Battle of Britain used to run away from a old man, Mosquito and war books fan, who teased them so much… :D :D [IMG] [IMG]

And I'm yearning for Flags of our Fathers very much! The book is excellent, Spielberg producing is more than excellent and Clint Eastwood directing is just fantastic!!! :D

the great raid is coming out and ive heard some early critiques about the film... and sadly the real meaning of world war 2 will be lost again in a sappy love story like that of pearl harbour

They've been promoting it pretty heavy on TV here.
IMO, I don't see it staying in Theaters very long...nobody but WWII buffs will even know what it was about.

I was talking to a friend and he went to a special screening of the movie the other day. He says that the woman does not enter the camp. Maybe Hollywood didn't screw it up this time.
